Re: Why The Rose is so rhythmic
A bunch of ratings periods ago, the Rose started playing the CHR Game and got away from the hip hop/r&b lean. They started playing the All American Rejects and Simple Plans - and played more of the Kelly Clarksons. This is where their numbers dropped. They haven't been able to recover since. I think they have sounded good at times with great imaging and at one time a great DJ line-up, but they still never bounced back. I would even say that during their Dan & Stephanie/Bev Valentine/Shayne Blue/Johny Boobuhkuh era they sounded better than ever but the ratings didn't show it. [At this time the music was VERY "Kiss" and was around the time the ratings dropped.] Why is that (in my mind)? COD left the AC-area and moved towards the Hot AC side of the pool around the same time that the Rose started to sink. Now that Quantum owns both stations, it should make it easier to kill the competition and make both stations more profitable (and hopefully listenable). I must say the Rose is VERY unfocused musically and jock-wise right now (again in my opinion... I'm on the Cape visiting now and the Rose just sounds flat).
