AllAccess says Robert Rees is the new midday guy. Still a local show. Also, they've dumped the Glenn Beck and Dave Ramsey reruns that aired at night in favor of Mark Levin. Can't help but think they're up for a flip very soon.

I agree. A new format will likely land on 98.9 sooner than later.

New Spanish format maybe? The triumphant return of La Ley 98.9 to Austin????

How is dumping reruns and airing a new show an indicator that the station will flip soon? That might be the case if it were the other way around, but adding a syndicated show should display that the station is attempting to be competitive and is not planning to switch formats anytime soon.

Correct me if I am wrong but this station didn't register in the last trend. My guess is that the changes recenlty are temporary or atleast until they decide what format to put on 98.9. Top 40 and/or Country are the two most likely formats.

I doubt they would go Country because of 98.1 KVET. I don't see them going top40 because KTFM in San Antonio is not doing well compared to Mix which is owned by the same company is KHFI. Probally prepare for a simulcast of 92.5, maybe 104.9. Or 104.9 changes to simulcast 98.9 or 92.5 and the jocks are moved and 98.9 becomes news talk and sports.

Says who? KTFM is doing very well and the numbers are only going to get better.

Both KVET & KASE are owned by CC so what does this have to do with BMP?

As for KTFM, KTFM has seen a huge increase since switching to Top 40. For instance, 18-34 they've increased 63% and 18-49 they've increased 46%. In additioin, KTFM has only been on the air for two months with the Top 40 format. So how do you figure the station isn't do well?

Stick will also be a game changer in the afternoons. Props to Landis or whomever managed to get Stick to join KTFM. Now, they just need to bring a strong Morning Show.

It's easy to show huge growth when you're starting from nothing.
Overall, KTFM is trending 2.9...3.2...2.8 and ranks 15th.
It has a long way to go to match 5th ranked KXXM.

And this is 6+? That doesn't matter to adverstisers. You should know that....Maybe you should further explain why you're not 98.9 :-X

Now that's a good indicator the radio station will flip. Adding Mark Levin to your lineup means you are still competing, and that your in the race for the long haul. However, if you didn't even register in the last trend, the powers that be at Border Media would be smart to start at least thinking about a format change.

All of you are itching for a flip, and hey, I am too. You have to believe that Border Media will ride this thing out until after the November elections. This is when talk radio reaches its pinnacle. After that, the most likely flip would be to a Top 40 format to try and take #1 KHFI down a peg or two.

I'm still holding out hope for Digital, Noventa y Ocho punto nueve. Pop y mas.

I think this is temporary fix and it's unlikely they will keep The Big Yawner until November. Especially, if the station isn't making any $$$.

I think you all need to think about this a little more. In case you haven't noticed, 98.9 spent some big promotional money on billboards around town promoting Glenn Beck and Sean Rima. The fact that they haven't registered yet is not exactly a killer considering the Sportstalk format they also own hardly ever registers. Will this station be a roaring success? Doubtful, because like so many others out there they don't want to make the real investments they need to make it succeed (news staff, more local shows, etc). However, I don't think they will be flipping anytime soon, and I certainly don't expect them to go either hispanic, country or rock.

Ummmm....are you referring to 104.9? IIRC it beat 1300 in the last book and in the world of Austin's sportstalk advertisers, that's a bit of a big deal, don't you think? OTOH, I really agree with you about the investment issue. If today's owners could, they'd hook up and iPod and let it run 24/7 with breaks every 10 minutes.

To address the question earlier, I speculated a flip would be coming -- didn't say when -- because a.) they were making changes so soon after launch, including scrapping a local midday show with two well-known broadcasters and b.) they didn't register in the ratings. When WOAI out of San Antonio registers (with similar programming) and you don't, that's a problem. I still think we'll see a flip if these latest changes don't help. I like the post-November theory. As for the billboards, Sammy and Fred had 'em too, I believe ... and we saw what happened there.
