The RUSH HENRY Show

Nigel any move from WILK would be a move up. It has really gone down hill in the last few years. Better to get out of radio than stay there. The place really seems to have sucked the life out of Sue.

she would be better off to go back to newspaper, and or teaching. all the talk shows on wilk have the same callers, and sue always make it sound like its a private club when the same few people call in. and the same goes for nancy and john in the morning, and corbett in the p.m. talk radio will hit a high point for a while, but then it will drop. when talk was on one station it went down hill quicker. but now with wilk having 3 or 4 stations doing talk it might last a little longer. id like to see the breakdown with the numbers for each show. that would be interesting.

Last breakdown I saw was when WILK finished number 1, and the bulk was Rush and Savage, the highest rated local was #4. Not bad, but with no real competition, it doesn't say much.
WILK actually doesn't make money, they are carried by the rest of the group. There is a great amount of difficulty selling it. They tried to hire a dedicated rep, but couldn't make enough money to sustain.
Had a friend who was a rep, and all they had to do was mention WILK and they would get bombarded with anger about Kevin Lynn (back then) and Steve Corbett and a not so polite showing to the door. Needless to say, my friend stopped mentioning WILK and focused on the other stations.
I can only pass on what I was told. While people may listen, many smart local business people won't buy, because being associated with WILK is not an image they want. Former advertisers have actually lost business because of being on WILK. My friend told me a story of one advertiser and after he stopped advertising, one of the locals mentioned his business in a good way, the former advertiser called my friend irate, he didn't even want his business mentioned by the local talk show host at all.

Where's the evidence? The company is spending an awful lot of money on a station that runs in the red? 10 hours of local programming per day, plus a couple news readers. It doesn't sound like a money loser to me.
