The Saga of 95.9 The Ranch gets even stranger

This is looking more and more like a soap opera. As many of the posters here are aware, KFWR has wanted to get a better signal for quite a while, upgrading from a Class C1 to a full C. To do that, they'd have to get approval of a sweeping reallocation plan involving a number of existing stations in Texas and Oklahoma, along with several allocations for small town operations. In sheer numbers of changes it doesn't quite rival the massive reallocation plan that would have re-assigned 97.5 (now KLAK in Tom Bean) to Keller as a full Class C, while changing stations or unused allocations from Oklahoma down to San Antonio. But this plan for a new and improved KFWR has plenty of twists and turns and accusations. The latest item posted in the proceeding is a letter from a lawyer who says he has been wrongfully accused by one of the other parties. My, my, what a mess: http://svartifoss2.fcc.gov/prod/ecfs/retrieve.cgi?native_or_pdf=pdf&id_document=6518717272
Complete details on the proceedings in Docket 06-11 (not quite "War and Peace," but close) can be found at http://svartifoss2.fcc.gov/cgi-bin/...it=Retrieve+Document+List&id_proceeding=06-11, but that was one of the juiciest things so far.

One of the most important parts of the proposal involves downgrading the longtime occupant of 95.7 in Ardmore OK, KKAJ, from a Class C1 all the way down to a class A. That's pretty brutal, but it's the only way to accomplish the relocation of KFWR to a taller tower a little north of Mineral Wells. Scroll to the bottom of the page and you'll see the current coverage for The Ranch, which is iffy east of Fort Worth: www.recnet.com/cdbs/fmq.php?nprm=1119522&jaws=0 At the bottom of this page is their proposed coverage: www.recnet.com/cdbs/fmq.php?nprm=1119523&jaws=0
That's right, folks. A city-grade signal all the way to downtown Dallas.

I don't know what the over-under is on this, but it's fun to watch.

They need to check with that Patriot-Pirate in NE Dallas, he could declare a national state of emergency complete with MRE's if they tread on his 95.7!

Or they need to shut that 95.7 pirate down once and for all. Time in the slammer, confiscation of equipment, etc. What a travesty that they let this scofflaw continue to broadcast. They obviously even had a power increase. Way more solid into Plano now.

Somebody - please - just give the Ranch a frequency so they won't chew up all the rim shots in the area with the same (country) format. Maybe with the Ranch on one frequency, solidly in the metroplex, we could get something other than country on the other frequencies.

Let us not forget how it affects the station in Malakoff, and the Good ol'boys in Sulphur Springs. Ol'SELL,SELL, SELL anything Bud Kitchens, ain't a gonna go away quietly. Ya might ruin his empire.
