"The Sandbox" Coming To Mornings On WFNX Starting July 23rd

On July 23rd, 2007, former WDYL personalities Chris Padgett, Dustin "Fletcher" Matthews, and Elbe "Special Ed" d'Oliveiria will reunite on WFNX as the hosts of a new morning show, ''The Sandbox''. ''The Sandbox'' will debut on WFNX July 23rd.

It's the first, second, and third link on the page.

Dustin previously programmed the Triad Broadcasting-owned alternative station here in Savannah, Georgia, WFXH (Rock 106.1).

Cool, good luck to them.....I just hope they can bring some attention to FNX....FNX was always that station that had a diehard core following, and it's new wave of college listeners every year....their ratings always sucked because most kids in college don't get books, but I bet more people listen than you might think. I'll definitely tune in, and I like the way Dakin has been running things since Max went back to LA

Where is Swasey going?

He was shown the door recently. Good call on new management's part. Looks like things are on their way to getting better.....Ever so closely.

I love FNX. I listen almost every morning on the way to work mostly because they actually play music. I am one of those strange people who crave music during my morning commute. I think FNX had the right mix of talk and music in the morning. I hope that doesn't change with the new show.

Only a matter of time before they have to deal with the usual "not from here" rap. If ever existed a more parochial market, it's certainly been surpassed by Boston.

This show's really gonna have to have a finger on the pulse of what moves Bostonians. Because they certainly don't have either heritage, or signal to rely on.

You think they're going to be able to relate to riding the green line to class in February? Or parking in Copley Square? Will someone mention the Coop? And the inevitible butchering of Quincy, Reading, Worcester, Dedham...

The first few weeks should be a bloody train wreck. I'm bummed I won't be able to hear it.

I hope they enjoy whoring all of the other Mindich family businesses.

Thanks for the feedback, everyone. We're really excited to come to The Hub.
"Whoring" the other bidnesses is one of the reasons we were hired. The history of disconnect between the publications and the station is a gap we're hoping to bridge. The Phoenix, Stuff, Stuff @ Night and everything else should present a united front, and we're going to work with all of them.
FNX has made great strides in re-claiming their musical heritage. We're not going to ignore that fact.
As for butchering Peabody, Quincy and Worcester (PEE-bud-ee, quinzee <I lived there> and Wustah, guy), I worked at FNX from '96 to 2000, so I've been coaching the boys on their pronunciations. I've been booted on Newbury Street, watched the fireworks from a rooftop on Beacon Hill (43 Revere Street, where I lived with ace DJ Tym Ryan), been jammed in too many Green Line cars to count, sat in the cheap seats at Fenway for Yankees/Sox and swung through the Coop a handful of times.
So yes, the first couple of weeks may very well be an unmitigated disaster, but it won't be because we don't know wtf we're talking about.

None of which will make for good radio, but hey, at least you may be paid on time. Hopefully anyway.

I can't wait to hear you hawking the Mindich rags and Lansdowne St, all the while O&A are hawking their "Virus Tour" and Hillman tries to pretend he's a factor in a major market.

I remember Charlie as "your genial host" and am looking forward to your, um, his return.
I know a lot about the inner workings of the station but am very optimistic regarding this change. I haven't heard the show but think it's much more in line with what the station and its demo needs than the former. Much.

You'll know and schooling the newbies will be the fun part.

First lesson: Red Sox is a religion rather than just a sports team.
It's pronounced Wiss-Tah by the "natives"
