The Seabreeze

Note: The stream's music hasn't officially started yet.

Also, if there are any other links for the station, I'll post them here.

Recently played:
Barbra Streisand, Since I Fell for You
Luther Vandross, Stop to Love
Toto, Africa
Linda Eder, What Kind of Fool Am I?
Glen Campbell, Southern Nights
Diana Krall, Peel Me a Grape
June Christy, Most of All

These guys will never have to worry about too many people trying to access their stream! I can't see too many listeners staying put during this weird sweep of Great American Songbook material, mellow r&b, crossover country and '80s pop. If you can, then count your blessings, because there'll never be anything like this on terrestrial radio, ever.

I very highly disagree with you. If you're into a variety of easy listening sounds, it's a perfectly good mix.

As far as terrestrial radio is concerned, in my neck of the woods, the two dominant formats are contemporary country and contemporary Christian. The only other choices are CHR and a handful of AC's that are trying to be CHR. If you're not into that, then radio sucks.

Damn - "Stop to Love" Luther Vandross? I've only heard that ONCE on a radio station. That was 103.7 the Oasis in Albuquerque (smooth jazz). This playlist sure sounds like the Sierra Wave in Bishop (KSRW-92.5) when they are not airing the morning or specialty shows. Throw in one or two smooth jazz songs an hour and you've got a carbon copy of KSRW.

Including the Glen Campbell and Toto tracks?

Those songs by those artists have been staples of the easy listening/classic soft rock format. Anyone who's familiar with that format knows that it makes sense to include them.

Here's the market closest to me: http://radio-locator.com/cgi-bin/locate?select=city&city=Danville&state=VA

There's no oldies stations playing 50s and 60s music and there's no formats playing any easy listening/classic soft rock. If you're not into what's hip and popular, you have no choice but to turn to alternatives.

I saw a study one time that said that one third of radio listeners would listen less to local radio if they had easy access to Internet Radio built into their cars. That's the only negative right now with streaming. Not everyone has a hi-tech cell phone or a hi-tech iPod capable of streaming on the go.

Yes, that's the downside, but we're making progress in that area..which is why I make every possible effort to let listeners know that both my stations can be accessed not only with a computer but also via many mobile devices (smartphones, tablets, etc). It's also crucial to share information with them as to how to go about listening "on the go" and conveying that info as succintly and clearly as possible.

Toto has been a staple of the soft AC format since the format's inception in the early 80's and even now. As far as Glen Campbell goes, some of the broadcast "traditionally-based" soft ACs are refusing to air his music anymore, including our local "soft AC" here, WEZZ-FM "Easy 97.3" (why that is the case is beyond me...after all, Birmingham is in the south, and we're no strangers to country music). I do realize that Glen Campbell is more of a crossover artists (country and pop), but if anyone assumes that his music doesn't "fit" within a soft AC format, I'd like to point your attention to IheartRadio's "Sunny" station, which airs Campbell's music on a regular basis.

Some of those tracks on Seabreez are more standards in nature, but then again...that is to be expected since the station is being done by the Breez, which is an easy listening/beautiful music station. I imagine some of the Breez's material overlaps with Seabreez's since it is programmed by the same people. I'm not much on the standards fare (at least mixing it with soft AC), but I don't take issue with it as long as there's not a lot of it. One has to remember that the original soft AC format was comprised of some adult standards material, although sparingly, so it's not unheard of to air standards in a traditionally-based soft AC format. For instance, I can remember hearing many soft AC stations in the mid to late 80's airing Johnny Mathis' music, which definitely falls more along the lines of adult standards.

Precisely!

Just like on this station, I've heard Tony Bennett, Frank Sinatra and other crooners incorporated sparingly. http://www.softrockradio.net/softrockradiolove.html

I have heard KSRW play "99" and "I'll Be Over You" by Toto. The latter is rarely if ever heard.
No Glen Campbell, but I've heard them with rare Glenn Frey - "Strange Weather" and "This Way to Happiness." Both never heard anymore...they may have even been just album cuts.

Are there any streaming apps for a Tracfone LG 501C or for the iPod Nano 6th generation? Those are what I have for mobile devices. I've done a Google search but haven't had much luck yet.

Well, Glen Campbell has entered the "Adult Standards" category, along with Kenny Rogers, Anne Murray, John Denver, Olivia Newton-John, Ronnie Milsap and similar Pop/Country artists with numerous hits... and that's true in the South as well as other parts of the country. Dionne Warwick, The Carpenters, Barry Manilow, Tony Orlando, The Fifth Dimension, The Association, Petula Clark, The Captain & Tennille and Neil Diamond are also in this category (although some Soft AC stations do play Sweet Caroline due to its association with the Boston Red Sox). You won't hear any songs from these artists on Soft AC or Oldies stations anymore, not even AM Oldies stations or the VERY Soft AC stations, WDUV, WFEZ, KIFM, WEZZ, etc.

Someone decided their images are not cool. So even stations that play soft hits and oldies will not air them, not even their relatively uptempo hits. The only place you might hear them is on an internet station, or an Adult Standards format, such as America's Best or Music of Your Life.

I have no use for Toto.

And you know your oldies station has crossed the line into "classic hits" when they play "Hold the Line". Fortunately, the oldies station around here went back to the traditional definition and if my usual station is airing a game or it's after sunset, I have an option.

Glen Campbell I definitely want to hear. Though it was weird right before sunset hearing him sing "Wichita Lineman" as Karen Carpenter sang about "hurting each other". The farther east I went, the fewer signal problems I had but then the doubleheader starting with the girls started. There was an interesting discussion about Brian Williams on NPR but then they started talking about something violent ... and I should have followed my advice posted above.

I remember this too. One station in Charlotte even played Nat King Cole and it wasn't even Christmas. Four years later you couldn't even hear The Carpenters except maybe during Delilah. Ten more years and Bon Jovi and Pat Benatar.

There was. They called it Timeless Favorites. Or ten years before that I accused a chimpanzee of doing it and a month after starting his job that chimp was gone.
