The Shield Season Finale

OK...so I won't spoil anything (except that a prime characters gets killed), but did anyone see the season finale of "The Shield" on Tuesday night??!!

Although I had mixed feelings about this season (I was getting sick of them re-visiting that "Vic-killed-Terry" storyline from season 1) and there was something about Forest Whittaker's character I didn't care for (after last season with Glenn Close and Anthony Anderson, both in fantastic roles, the bar was set pretty high IMO), even though many have said Whittaker should nominated for an emmy, but the season finale last night further proved why this show is probably one of the best on TV and I can't wait for a new season to start in early 2007.

Other thoughts on last night's season finale?? (BTW...for those who wish to spoil it, put notice in the subject header!!) :)

The Shield is one reason that I have cable TV in the first place. And I agree that it is perhaps the best show on television.

Michael Chiklis should be nominated for another Emmy. Glenn Close left the show last year in order to be with her daughter in New York City, otherwise I’m sure she would have returned for a second season. As for Forrest Whittaker, I thought he did a great job playing the IAD detective going after Mackey and his crew.

What makes this show great is not only the great writing and acting, but it blows away the concept that all cops are good. Vic Mackey is both Jekyll and Hyde. He’s a good at protecting innocent people, but has no qualms in killing a fellow cop and stealing money.

It’s a shame that viewers have to wait until 2007 for the start of the new season.

***NO SPOILER (Which wasn't easy)***

Just watched it. Thank you TiVo!

I hated Forest Whittaker's character so much I don't think I can watch Whittaker do anything again. He was a comic book villian. We never got to understand anything about him or where he was coming from. Either the writing was two-dimensional - or the acting was - or both. This is in contrast Glenn Close last year, who was a fully-formed character.

The episode ended with a cliff-hanger, which will make the wait until next year more excruciating.

And I kept waiting for Vic to say, just once this year, "It's clobberin' time."

Vic Mackey vs. Jack Bauer (WAS: The Shield Season Finale)

Hi everyone:

About THE ONLY person who can be compared to this would be Jack Bauer from the hit series "24" on the big FOX Network. Jack loves Audrey & his daughter Kim and would go to ANY length to protect them (especially Kim if you saw the scene between him and Kim's boyfriend) against ANYONE, yet he also has NO qualms whatsoever about interrogating them (As I was shown in the preview for this Monday's episode when he interrogates Audrey about her involvement with the terrorists behind the terrorist attacks that have been this season).

Vic has also proven to be very protective of his family too.

It is because of this that I've LONG believed that Vic & Jack would make a PERFECT fit as partners and Michael Chiklis would be a PERFECT addition to "24" (Sorry, but Curtis Manning is a BORING character IMO. It's as if he doesn't even have a past beyond his ex-lover of last season whose name I've already forgotten).

No kidding. You'd think FX would air the show beginning in June in reruns until then. But alas....They don't. :(

Just my $.02 worth :)

Cheers :)
