new crystals are going in our new transmitter.

New crystals in your new transmitter? I don't know how to tell you this Dude, but "new" transmitters don't use crystals. In fact, transmitters haven't used crystals, for over 30 years.

Actually they do, even if it is a PLL. Typically they don't need to be changed though when changing frequency.

No, NEW transmitters do not use crystals. I just installed a Nautel J-1000 AM transmitter and there isn't a crystal in it. PLL or otherwise. Everything is synthesized. If The Dude has a "new" transmitter with a crystal, he does not have a "new" transmitter.

No, I never said it was a new transmitter, maybe you are reading what you want to see. It is new to me, but it is used equipment. I am familiar with the J-1000, it is a solid state unit without crystals, I am referring to a 4 year old unit made by another maker. I prefer not to say who the maker is as there are some prying eyes out there who have nothing better to do than to criticize others and bash anything they do. The transmitter I speak of will be used as a backup unit once the NEW transmitter I take delivery on at time of closing with the FCC arrives and is installed.

Who cares about the programming. I'm anxious to learn how to sell $10.00 nighttime spots on a daytimer that has no nighttime authorization and would never be able to get nighttime without putting up a 50 acre antenna farm. Oh yeah, translators... Well he can't put one in Tallahassee, Valdosta or Albany, so I guess John and Jeff can give a third shift shout out to Thomasville.

I'm also dying to learn how college kids in Tallahassee are going to listen to a .5 mv AM signal in their dorm rooms during non-critical hours, or how listeners in Dothan are going to listen in with a .1 mv signal.

And I'm especially eager to learn how to sell national advertising on a daytimer in an unrated market with no ratings.

So much to learn and so little time.

Ever heard of streaming Moron? We are selling the overnight spots for our 24 hour feed that gets delivered over internet. Once we get the daytime changed to 24 hour then those 10 dollar spots will disappear and go up...

What are you streaming??? Nothing but stale airchecks and sophmoric college music and old Tom Leykis spots. ???

Oh and you talking about Cabo. And that's whenever your stream actually does work. Been like this for how many months now???

I think you lost your crystals a long time ago.

OK, then I await with baited breath to see how you can charge $10.00 for overnight spots on a stream of syndicated programming that's available all over the internet.

I know you're quite prolific in generating press releases predicting the future. I'm just anxious to see the radio magic.... or should I say radio miracle.

Why bother with the transmitter at all. If you're that good at selling streaming, all you're getting is a big power bill and a bunch of FCC hassles to reach Thomasville. No one in Tally will listen to that static on AM.

On the other hand, if it doesn't work, there's always that career in press release generation.

Then that is where the FM Translators come into play that are being looked at...FM!!! No static at all!!! LOL

Translators? Same problem. Unless you convince the FCC to totally change their policy on STA's, you can only have translators in your 2 mv contour. That means Cairo and Boston. No xlator for Tallahassee. There are certainly plenty of religious xlators in Thomasville. That gives you nighttime coverage in Thomasville, which is not high on the radar of national agencies.

If you want Tallahassee, buy a dog AM there and put it on an FM translator, but WJEP is not even worth turning on to reach the "college crowd."

Good luck.

Why would the "college crowd" be tuning into an AM station anyway? And who would buy "internet advertising" from a peashooter in SW GA?
