The shows changing networks thread

An example of the first one would be the CW's version of Dynasty, on from 2017-22 (revival of the 1981-89 ABC serial of the same name w/John Forsythe et al.)
As opposed to "The Conners" or "Roseanne" as it was called before Roseanne Barr was fired. It was off the air for a while and came back with the same characters and actors. "Will and Grace" too.

But the "Dynasty" casts were completely separate. I didn't see a lot of episodes of the original. Many of the characters had the same names but different actors played them, and what they did was often different. And one was set in Denver and the other Atlanta. They even changed Sammy Jo from a woman to a man and he was one of my favorite characters. The CW version focused on Fallon, a spoiled rich girl who got to run companies. I can't imagine John Forsythe being quite the schemer the new Blake was. More of a J.R. type.

Since then, we recently had “Hip-Hop Squares” and “Nashville Squares“ to keep the legacy going.

Here is another edition of Hollywood Sqares from the 1980's when John Davidson was the host and it featured Joan Rivers in the center square and special appearance with current KGO-TV San Francisco weather person Spencer Christian when he was then with ABC's Good Morning America in 1988. But in that episode they were in Florida as part of making the show go on a tour.

Here is the 1980's edition of Hollywood Squares in their main studios in LA at the time.

Resident Alient may move to USA Network or Netflix if it gets renewed for season 4.

Here’s a update…

The CW is rehiring The Librarians
Now they’re being laid off..

Anymore, especially since competition from streaming, ratings aren't directly attributable to revenue. If, for example, 20th Century Fox is charging X for three seasons of whatever show, folks in the front office at the network side are looking at the past season of sales dollars trying to decide if sales trends are expected to go up or down, and whether there are lower-cost options available that could bring in the same revenue without the high expense.
That would be the only reason prime shows would be cut loose despite decent ratings.

Recent case in point- NCIS Hawaii. On the surface, solid numbers for CBS. Certainly enough to make renewal a good possibility if that’s the only metric. And as we know, it isn’t.

But it’s known filming there is not cheap, and with the new prequel, the cost may be lower and the potential for long-term payoff in the streaming and syndication space than they perhaps saw in Hawaii.

No one is saying they were taking a loss on NCISH. But there’s a reasonable supposition that they could do better for the bottom line with a change.
