The Simpsons Disses Fox News Channel

I know back in the 1990's The Simpsons did a parody of Fox News But thats when local Fox O&O's under Diller refered their 10pm news as Fox News. I know there was a Daily show clip where the producers got a notice that they were not allowed to talk about Fox News.

The Simpsons regularly takes shots at their bosses at News Corp.
I have always found that to be one of the show's charms.

The episode where Rupert Murdoch is holding a telethon comes to mind.
All of the phones are being staffed by stars of Fox programs at the time
(Hank Hill, Agent Mulder, etc.) Bart calls in with a big pledge, to which
Murdoch replies "Oy, you've saved my network!"

Cut to a close-up of Bart on the phone. "Wouldn't be the first time!"

Props to Fox for letting them do that sort of humor. You never ever see
it on shows on CBS, for example.

Better example would be shows on NBC making fun of MSNBC other than SNL skits. However, I could be wrong about that because I don't regularly watch NBC.

Letterman used to take digs at G.E. (parent company of NBC) when he was on NBC, and the network execs weren't too amused.

Johnny Carson used to regularly take jabs at NBC/G.E., as well. You can just hear Johnny sarcastically saying, "G.E., the company with a heart."

They're probably the only people at NewsCorp who could get away with it. Details:

"Family Guy" did an entire episode a few years ago where Lois goes to work at Fox News (the episode is titled "Fox-y Lady") and Brian spends most of the episode trying to convince Lois that Fox News is nothing but a puppet of the Republican party and the right wing. It wasn't a complimentary episode.

Also there was a Simpsons nearly a decade ago where Krusty ran for Congress. On that episode, to say they portrayed Fox News as biased towards Republicans was an understatement.

Anyone see Bill O'Reilly respond to this on his program Monday night? Classic. :D

I meant to say in my last post current NBC shows outside of late night talk and SNL making fun of MSNBC. I don't hear that happening often unlike the many times that The Simpsons, Family Guy, or really any of their animation shows diss Fox News. I guess the key is if your show is a cartoon, then more likely you can get away with it on prime-time.

"I wonder what's on Fox tonight?" Something ribald, no doubt!"

Homer Simpson

Remember Bart Simpson pointing out the Fox satellite?

It was a decrepit thing hanging in the air with a couple of balloons, a wire coathanger, and some twine......

30 Rock has been lampooning NBC/GE/Comcast/the Sheinhardt Wig Co. since Day One. "Kabletown" = Comcast. The episode that spoofed the Conan/Jay Leno situation was a classic.

And he still takes jabs at CBS today...(and in the past during the Westinghouse/CBS era)

Does anyone remember a sketch from an episode of 'SNL' hosted by Lucy Lawless around the time of the Starr Report and President Clinton's impeachment that was a spoof of MSNBC and of the salacious aspects of the news networks at the time? The news "anchors" and guest commentators, who were all women, ended up in nightgowns, eating popcorn in typical young girls' slumber party fashion...

...and Harry Shearer takes shots at Fox/NewsCorp every week on his Public radio program, Le Show. One recently created segment, a result of the phone hacking scandal, has Harry sarcastically referencing his current primary meal ticket as "NiceCorp"...
