The Simpsons in order

Tribune's WATL/Atlanta (WB) is going to run every episode of The Simpsons in order starting Monday. Wikipedia lists 365 episodes, and at 2 shows every weeknight, it should take them about 9 months 4 days.

Anyone else doing this?

As far as I know, WTTO and WABM in Birmingham have always ran the episodes in order (different eras on each station, though), except for stunts like running all the Treehouses of Horror during Halloween week and showing part 1 of "Who Shot Mr. Burns" on WTTO and part 2 later the same day on WABM.

Don't know if either airing is starting over from the beginning for the new year, though, since I've been working when it's on and haven't seen any promos.

Haven't heard anything about either WKBD Detroit or WUPW Toledo doing anything like this (since WUPW only currently runs them on Saturdays, this would take rather long in their case). I would imagine stations doing this nationwide would make Fox very unhappy, as people being able to easily record episodes in order would probably cut big-time into sales of their DVD sets.

I would think that "every 'Simpsons' episode in order" being re-run by WATL Atlanta will be every episode up through and including the end of the 2004/2005 season (assuming that episodes from the 2004/2005 season have been added to the syndicated rerun package). Fox, of course, will have sole rights to air this season's episodes until the Fall of 2006.

But that's still quite a lot of shows!!!

For me the opposite it true. I can pick up the DVDs for under $20.00 a season at a used record store. (So far haven't paid more than $20.00 for a season thru Season 7). And they are not cut and I can watch them when I want. So I watch LESS of WFLD-TV.
______________

Our station that carries The Simpsons in San Antonio twice a day on KABB-FOX 29 seems to be airing the episodes in jumbled up order like you don't really know from which season you are watching. The only way I know that the earlier shows are on is when Flander's wife was still alive on the show. I haven't seen any reruns of their earlier shows(before 1995) in several years now. It is kind of like they do Seinfeld in that they don't show that show in order from the first episode to the last.

Not ALL episodes

I was talking to the guy who coordinates the Syndicated programming on the FOX affiliate I am involved with, and not all Simpsons episodes have been cleared for Syndication. So while they may advertise they are going to air all episodes, what they are doing is in fact airing all that have been cleared for syndication.

... is on the same channel that Fox Philadelphia (WTXF, an O&O) is on! :)

Just pointing something out...

So which ones haven't been cleared? Obviously, the current season and some episodes of last season hasn't been cleared, but are any older episodes being held back?

"A Streetcar Named Marge"?
"The City of New York vs. Homer Simpson" perhaps. A-Channel/Citytv ran it a while back. Maybe it's been cleared for syndication.
______________

Don't know about the former, but the latter was cleared for syndication -- World Trade Center and all. There's reports of some stations showing that episode again.

The episode where Homer becomes an astronaut (sorry, don't know the title without looking it up) and nearly causes a space shuttle disaster was not pulled after the Columbia disaster, so I doubt "A Streetcar Named Marge" would be permanently pulled except perhaps in/around the New Orleans area. For those who aren't Simpsons buffs, this episode features a musical version of "A Streetcar Named Desire" with scenery depicting New Orleans, including the Superdome, prominently displayed.

If any eps are not cleared, I'd imagine they would be early season episodes which are available on DVD.

I don't recall seeing it on WNYW, and I don't think they will show it any time soon, for obvious reasons.
______________

It was edited by some stations who ran them (namely WCGV/Milwaukee)

Both are cleared for synd... I've seen both on WFLD/Chicago, WCGV/Milwaukee (the latter heavily edited, though) and I believe on WQRF/Rockford.

Re: Not ALL episodes

Wouldn't everyone have to be running them in order if that's the case? At least from my time in TV, the episode that was supposed to air was fed every day, the entire series (of whatever) wasn't stored on premesis.
______________

The shows are no longer cash + barter where Fox decides what shows will be run on a particluar day. They're straight cash shows where the affiliate pays $$ for the library and gets X amount of plays of each over X amount of weeks. Therefore, the affiliate should have the option to run whatever show they want. (Of course, I'm not entierly familiar with how The Simpsons works, as we don't air them)
