THE SOUNDS OF TINO COCHINO TO HIT THE AIRWAVES OF SAN ANTONIO

GET READY SAN ANTONIO, TINO COCHINO FROM THE HUB CITY OF LUBBOCK IS SET TO HIT THE AIRWAVES ON FRIDAY NIGHT FOR THE FIRST TIME. LUBBOCK'S LOSS IS OUR GAIN, GET READY! FROM WHAT I HEAR THIS KID IS BRINGING HIS STREET CREW AND HIS GAME FACE.. :)

Wow this dork isn't even on the air yet and he's posting about how great he is. He's coming from Lubbock for Fs sake. Hopefully he does bits as creative as "what's in my ham sammich" or the "top 7 at 747." I've heard from many that Ham is scurred.

I had no idea who this dood was...until I hit up www.myspace.com/tinocochino ..from lubbock. He's an underground "rapper"..so I'm guessing his music MIGHT be played (but prolly not), not dj'ing. If he does DJ, I hope he's just as terrible as his sorry excuse for music....if thats the case, no DJ in this city needs to worry :)

Damn... some hating. lol
I honestly don't think he has to post anything about himself, he's got believers like myself to do that for him. I could go on and on about how talented I think this Kid is, cause he's a kid, but we all know about those opinions. lol Have a good day!

He also had a 30+ share at night - not in his demo - P12+.

He helped the same station go from sign-on one week before the book began - from a transmitter 34 miles out of town - and score a 10.1 share P12+.

I couldn't be prouder of him... He will kick ass!

Yea, thats also in a very small market (lubbock)....with no competition. The young one will learn, if anything, in this market :)

In today's radio, market size is almost irrelevant. If someone lives in Dallas, they're just as likely to start off doing part-time there as they are in Lubbock - probably more likely because there are more jobs available. The last time I was in Dallas, I heard someone doing overnights on one of the top 5 stations that couldn't have been on the air for more than a month or so. She was that bad.

When I worked in Austin late last century, I was training people who had never been on the air before to be jocks. Ditto for other cities I worked in that were about the same size. Just because these people were born in a large market didn't make them any more talented - it just made them lucky in the age of deregulated radio.

Tino was raised in Lubbock, and he started when he was in high school so that's where he got in the business. His former market size is NO reflection on his talent.

He will bring it - and he will kick ass.

In Lubbock his competition had worked in large markets, then stepped back for a first PD gig. Tino took him to school - when Tino was 16.

Agreed...I guess the point I was making is, there is more variety in a larger market in jocks....not saying this market has the greatest dj's.  But just more variety.  Hamm has been in this market for a few yrs and has a great following.  Mo' Bounce from Mix 96.1 has only been in SA for a few months and already brought thier night numbers sky high for his first full book. (#2 in the demo, and others).  If he is as good as some ppl say, maybe he will have the same success! We can only hope for the best for the young lad :) Either way we look at it. The young guy has made a nice jump from Lubbock.

You know, this kind of reminds me of the movie UNDERCOVER BROTHER. Where the whiteboy says "YEA, I FEEL BLACK" Then Dave Chappelle twist his arm and says "BUT YOU LOOK WHITE!!!"

Why are there so many "yo yo yo" jocks in this town??? Especially at night. Talley up another to the list.

ha ha ha ha ha!
;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

tino cochino???? hamm???? mo bounce????

let the battle begin!!!!!

HOLY CRAP HIS RAPPING SUCKS!!!!! :-*

This is true...I've never heard weaker, unorginal rapping in my life...but that doesn't mean he'll be a whack DJ. At least this dude is trying and genuinely lives the hip-hop lifestyle. As far as his competition, do we need to bring up a 200 year old former Tejano jock, an 8-yr SA resident who strangely hasn't lost his yankee accent, or what about a guy from Odessa who can't bite another jock's style anymore because that jock is now in the same town as him?

So is he going to be on the radio? if so what station?

From All Access Net News (November 2nd):

New Power 106.7/San Antonio To Debut First Jocks Friday

COX RADIO Top 40/Rhythmic KPWT (THE NEW POWER 106.7)/SAN ANTONIO (formerly Top 40/Mainstream KELZ) has new staffers lined up for afternoons and for nights. On FRIDAY (11/3), CHI CHI, formerly of WPOW (POWER 96)/MIAMI, debuts in the afternoon and TINO COCHINO makes his KWPT debut for nights (7p - midnight). Other daypart hires should be announced soon.

I think his rapping is good. But his deejaying, well I'll let you all with an OPEN MIND (in other words those that aren't already hating or who have made their minds up without even hearing him first) decide for yourselves... Go get 'em 'white boy' (yeah right!)... lol Do yo' thang!

HOLD UP! We are talking about Tino Cochino at 104-9 The Beat in Lubbock right? Where he did "The Slammin 7 @ 7:47" and "Heartbeats"????
Things that sure sound familiar, because I created them at KQBT The Beat 104.3 in Austin in 1998! Then brought them with me to SA in 2000! Sure sounds original to me...LOL. Hopefully, he'll be as original in SA as he was in LUBBOCK.

romeo

and where did you get bad boy broadcast?

i seem to have heard that in the san antonio market before you got here.....

im sure the person you stole that from might be mad
