The Spot (98.7)

It's conceptually horrible. Just brain dead. It's listened to for the music. The exceedingly boring marketing doesn't match the music. Then again, it's playing the same 10 songs over and over just like all the others. I long for AOR at a minimum. It's this type of crap that is driving people away from broadcast radio.
Why would you expect to hear AOR music on a pop oldies station? That criticism is about as relevant as if I complained because KZPS doesn't include any old Madonna songs in their playlist.

He may be talking about playlist size. There's a lot of mythology about AOR playlist size. The one I worked at had a playlist smaller than today's classic hits stations. But the big difference was that AOR stations played a lot of currents, and cycled them in and out of the playlist on a regular basis. That gave the impression of a much bigger playlist because there appeared to be less repetition. To me, that's one of the inherent limitations with the various classic formats. I've heard talk from people in the music industry that if there was one change they'd like to make in radio formats is the elimination of those that don't play currents. I understand why they feel that way.
