The Strobe XM 83

Been in and out of my car today... using XM Skydock for my ipod. The Strobe is one of my presets. It's been running XM preview. Anyone have any idea whats going on? Has it been removed? I've looked on the website, no mention that I can find. And the station guide listing says The Strobe online. Why?

As a subscriber, I'm getting so tired of various formats getting dumped for these artist-exclusive channels. Granted, I enjoy Pearl Jam, the Greatful Dead, Elvis, Springsteen, etc., but are there really that many hardcore fans that actually listen religiously to these channels? Do they get more listenership than the channels they replaced?

I really wish Sirius/XM would just create an artist spotlight channel where they would spend a week or a month featuring a specific artist/band exclusively. That would open up the bandwidth for more genres that Sirius/XM either used to have or won't touch. I'm not talking polka or anything like that, but channels like Movin' EZ, The Strobe, Aguila, etc.

The Strobe is now available online only. It was one of my presets as well. It wasn't the top of my musical food chain, but rather a place I went to when I got tired of my usual 50s, 60s and Soul Town.

I think I knew something was up when on the three major summer holiday weekends (Memorial Day, July 4th and Labor Day) The Strobe was replaced for several days by Beach Party Radio. I guess this is death to disco until Internet radio in cars becomes more widely available. :(

It was also one of my presets,,, but I only would listen for the occasional 80s Dance,, Freestyle,, or oldschool funk record.. If we cant have a channel dedicated to these styles 100 percent,, why the heck does Sirius or XM not have a real Rhythmic AC?

Why can't Sirius/XM tell listeners what is going on with their channels? Does XM still have the Groove 64? Glad I did not re-subscribe with their 5 months for 20 bucks deal. I would rather listen to my CDs. Satellite radio was great when it started, now it is pathetic. I see their stock is over a dollar now. My guess is they are targeting youngsters. (not sure what they are called, Generation Z ? I know they have alot of body piercings and tatoos) I heard that the reason they program certain artists is that they are getting paid to do so. Isn't that payola? I have noticed certain artists get played alot and others are not.

After 6-plus years I am about to pull the plug on the horrid company...First it was dumping Matt the Cat on the 50s on 5, now The Strobe. And their jocks on the decades channels, for the most part, are unbearable.

Their Urban/Rhythmic selection and their Decades channels are conservative and shallow too,, The only reason I have sat radio is because of BBC Radio One and the few dance channels we have left,, sadly, we just lost one. XMs Groove is supposed to start mixing in Disco, and Classic Dance with their Urban Funk,, which is cool,, but what are Sirius subs supposed to do for disco and classic Dance now,, it doesnt exist.

Sirius subs (I'm one of them) have to go online get both The Strobe and The Groove. It seems like you can get more music channels with Sirius Internet Radio than on the satellite radio in your car! The Internet app is also available on Droids, Blackberrys and iPhones. Perhaps this is how Sirius/XM is preparing for eventual Internet radio availability in cars. :(

Yeah but then you need internet on your phone and at that point why have sirius at all?
This artist-only stuff is going to push subscribers away, another corportate GREED thing.
They think this helps their cash-flow? HA.
