The stunting has begun

Oh wow. They're going RIGHT after Z100. Calling them out by name, playing old clips of Elvis and the "t-t-t-top of the ESB" TOH. Trying to cast them as dated...

Station ID, thank-you to listeners, announcement that K-Rock is moving to HD2, and an attack on Z100! Reagan was president and CD's weren't released when Z100 went on the air!

"New York needs something fresher...something now"

Do you guys really thing this going to help them out as a company? ???

and with ALL the commentary about the "stunting", you all missed one VERY important thing - in at least what i listened to during the last few minutes of K-Rock, NOT ONLY with the tones or all of that, but I picked up (and maybe others listening longer could correct me if i'm wrong...) the word "Now" in one of the songs - and it took me back to the summer of 2005...and ANOTHER NY station who did a similar stunting (and thank God in THAT case, BOTH the stunting and THAT station failed...and things got back to where they should be in NY...)

Andrea

well, I'm bored already, I'm switching back to Z, where I'm sure no attention will be paid, and I'm sure elvis won't be losing any sleep...

It was cool how they played old station ids of wabc, wmca, whtz and wplj. Them attacking z100 is like fresh fighting with lite, but will have to see who wins later on. For now lets listen to see how NOW is.

K-ROCK MAY 24,2007- MARCH 10,2009

I don't think Elvis will be leaving the Z100 building any time soon...

As someone who does not watch "24", I thought the tones from that show's "theme song" was a nice touch in the stunting, as well.

I remember the TOH jingle where he says "From the t-t-t-top of the World Trade Center" back in the "Hot 103" days in around 1988 or so prior to the move to "Hot 97" with a different TOH saying "From the t-t-t-top of the Empire State Building". Remember, WLOL was a Top 40 station in Minneopolis played the same TOH from the "Hot 103" and "Hot 97" days where he says "From the t-t-t-top of the IDS Center".

At exactly 4:55 PM...the sound of a clock ticking, right after "Right Now" by Van Halen.

I remember that song by Val Halen, they used that song in a old commercial for Crystal Pepsi back in the early 1990's, I remember drinking Crystal Pepsi, because it was not the best soda ever made. Sprite and 7-Up was a good drink than Pepsi Clear. The song "Right Now" by Val Halen was a great song to fit as the jingle for the now defunct Crystal Pepsi. I found this commercial here.

Insightful as always, Disney. Thanks for keeping this topic in focus with your Crystal Pepsi musings.

You're welcome, Dismal! I used to drink Crystal Pepsi back when I was about a teenager at the time, but that soda didn't last long until they discontinued in around 1992 or 1993.

There was a commercial for Crystal Pepsi where it does have the Val Halen song "Right Now" which was the last song played on "K-Rock" right before "Now" flip. I've seen that commercial since I was in my preteen. Here it is.
