The summit to stay on WKTL Struthers-Youngstown

WAPS the Summit who have been programming WKTL has a deal in place to continue programming 90.7 for the next 8 years:

Among the changes are The summit will help with the renewal process, pay for all costs of the station, and provide for children's programming. The is a very smart move for the Struthers BOE to do as the summit is very popular and has developed a following.

Will they move the tower as they originally proposed:

This is really good news. If I'm not mistaken, the Summit has an HD station that provides children's programming. They have other HD stations as well in Akron. My guess is that they're going to add at least an HD station or two to WKTL. This would be another good thing, because there isn't much on HD in the Youngstown area you can't get on analog radio.

It sounds like the summit will move and replace the transmitter and upgrade the signal as that is what the want is a larger footprint in the region. The other proposal involved a local group taking it over while the school fronted them money to get it going but most spoke to keep the current mix so they went with it.
