Is anyone else angry that The System has been replaced with christmas music for the month? I get enough Christmas music at the local supermarket. I need my electronica NOW!

The message XM is sending is it's one of the least listened to channels on the entire lineup.
______________

XM needs to improve how they handle X-mas music

I believe that since it is a pay service they should never pre-empt the programming.

If they dump a program to optimize subscribership, that is another thing. Otherwise, it could be construed as false advertising.

Why does XM keep this kind of information secret(same goes for repeater locations)?
One would think stockholders might want to know this info.
I personally would like to see this info.
The System is a very good channel, nothing like it on terrestial radio.
Hopefully They will bring it back unchanged on Boxing Day.

I agree. Personally I think Christmas music should be carried on the folk channels or whatever is closer to the same genre. The System plays electronica which is about the farthest thing from Christmas music.

My 6 presets are: 80, 81, 82, 9, 16, 20.

The first day I had XM during the first drive, I put on The System. They played Halcyon from Orbital...number one song of all time in my book. I don't listen to XM82 for extended periods, but I'm always flipping to it incase I recognize the song.
______________

I'm sure XM didn't select The System to air seasonal music based on formatic considerations. They needed bandwidth from somewhere and they decided to use the bandwidth allocated to The System. My guess about why The System was bumped is because it's a Worldspace channel (and because dance is always an easy target).

Subscribers upset with this should contact XM and express their opinions in an intelligent, constructive manner. If they don't contact XM, it will be easier for this to happen again. If people let XM know, but the opinions are rude, threatening and stupid, XM will write off the channel's fans as simplistic wackos (well, some of them are ha! but every channel has its short bus kids) and that'll make it just as easy to bump a dance channel next time bandwidth is needed.

The interesting thing is how they have both Special X and Special X-Mas playing the same thing online and DirecTV feeds. Plus, all the holiday channels are on 103 to 107, but still other channels are preempted anyway.

What XM should do is (unless they've done it anyway) take off the 20+ baseball channels repeating the same 'no game' line to free up bandwidth until April (unless they use those channels for other sports).

When you hear 'the game for this channel hasn't started yet' it's the same audio file repeated across all of the channels. It's the space of 1 crappy traffic/weather channel, not 20 sports channels... not enough room there for a music channel.
______________

I agree. I am a fan of the Torch (christian rock), and the type of Christmas music they are playing is not what I would hear on the Torch. Since we have 5 Christmas channels, why couldn't they make one Christian only (since that is what Christmas is about, and play Steven Curtis Chapman, Michael W Smith, Relient K, Switchfoot, Avalon etc. I mean yeah their are many different types of genres of Christian music but there is a lot of good contemporary and rock Christian Christmas music. If you saw my music collection you would see what I was talking about.

I agree. I'd love to hear this.
