I haven't actually sat down and paid attention to it for a long time but do area radio people still man the phones for the Labor Day Telethon? There was a time when it was pretty much SOP for entire staffs to spend some time there and it was promoted on the air also to watch for them.
 
Have you regressed to the day when stations had 5 or 6 full timers and 4 or 5 weekenders and couldn't wait for the audience to see what they looked like?
 
Back in the 70's through Mid-80's. WPRO was involved with The Jerry Lewis Telethon. Along with Salty, Hank Bouchard
from WPRI-TV. You would see Larry Ice Cold Kruger, Jimmy Gray, Big John Bina, Tony Bristol & Holland Cooke. In some capacity with the telethon. In later years other stations would participate. WPJB-FM, JB-105. Would have Rick Everett there in a tuxedo. Along with Morning Show host Mike Waite, Brad Pierce, Doc Holiday would make a cameo.
Then enter WSNE-FM. With the late Mike Sands doing his part for The Labor Day event.

After Pat Mastors & Tony Petrarca of WPRI-TV took over as hosts in the late 80's early 90's. Providence radio station involvement slowly went away. When WLNE took it over. Providence radio stations barely if anything contributed.
 
Ya think Seacrest will make an appearance? I mean, he probably won't be answering phones but that's kinda sorta Providence.
 
I can remember Mike Butts putting in time (along with the Meeting Street Telethon), Charlie Jefferds and I think Bruce Newberry & Ron St. Pierre as well in the time I was on the Trail.
 
When exactly did the Telethon move from WPRI to WLNE? I know that they swapped affiliations in September of 1995, but did the switch occur on Labor Day? And if so, which station was the Telethon on that year?
