The Three County Radio Stations

Here’s a positive thought about 3 country stations in Jacksonville. It will force everybody to think out of the box and be better at what they do! And, Jacksonville listeners will be the real winners as country radio cranks up the volume to compete and stay alive. It means Gator must do more than just playing more music. If Renda is a player, management will market and pump promotional dollars into the Gator. Just turning a station on and hoping for the best is mom and pop crap and does not belong in market 49.

And WQIK will have climb down from their god dam ivory towers and actually care about what their listens think and want from a radio station. If CC and Gail Austin can only manage to play dirty tricks, well that says very little about their them and their ability to compete.

To me WROO sounds like Gator with less spots and more of the same, it's boring.

In the end, the collective egos and lawyers add up to nothing, because the listeners who only want to be entertained will decide who stays and who flips to jack. And I say Jack because what else is left? Renda, Clear Channel and Cox are all about more of the same.

Any thoughts?

Well said! There's nothing like good healthy competition to keep everyone on their toes. It means working harder to make the stations sound better. It means more dedication and commitment on the part of management. And it means that there could be renewed passion for the programmers and the air talent.

Let the games begin!
