The Ting Tings Getting personal?

I was wondering if any other stations recieved a personal customized version of the Ting Tings "That's Not My Name." WXSS 103.7 Kiss FM here in Milwaukee has been playing a version that incorporates the radio personalities of the station in the song..."they call me <insert radio personality here>." In this age of voice tracking perhaps not...Kiss FM is the rare live and local 24/7 radio station these days.

What does voicetracking have to do with your question?

When artists do these kinds of things, they just sit in a studio with a list and crank them out. They don't know, nor care, about the station or its personalities. They would care even less about whether or not they were live and local.

Roger That is right. It has nothing to do with lack of VT/syndication.

The version for Hot 99.5 here has "they call me Seacrest" as one of the lines.

I'm sure if the Premium Choice stations wanted a "they call me Elvis, they call me Seacrest, they call me JJ", etc. version, it would be done.

Ummm...I never thought the artist cared about the stations...I Know they whore themselves anyway they can to get their music heard...I was just wondering the way the radio biz is these days...if radio cared...since they way the song is mixed...makes it sound as if they were exclusive to kiss fm...guess it is just my frustration with the state of radio.

The better question would be: "Does the audience care?"

Even assuming they notice it, the answer is no. ;)

Custom edits are sent because the PD will likely spin it more, and that's what the label wants. ;)

I'm aware of why they do it. But any PD that would spin a record more (or add it, for that matter) because of a custom edit with their station or jocks in it is an idiot.

It's funny that this has become a rhythmic hit.. .. . ..even the version with rap, but I guess that's a good thing because it shows TIMES AND THINGS ARE CHANGING!
