Any buzz on this station? Or will there be a new format on in the "Next" six months?

My bets are on a new format in 6 months. Station sounds like crap and is barely audible around Greenville. Besides that, I have seen no billboards for it and all of one commercial, during WITN news one morning. If a tree falls in the forest...

To me they put on The Touch to knock a few points off of KISS to allow WRNS to become number one again. The Party was the bonehead move, they just gave KISS number one with that move. Steve Hardy beats Tom Joyner in most every market. Baisden is welcome addition to the otherwise too safe audio landscape of ENC, and Keith Sweat will do well.

Look for an WILT change soon...que pasa?

WILT should be a license to print money, especially in Wilmington. I haven't looked at the ratings... are they not making traction there?

The touch was put on the air for the sole purpose of trying to take a point or two
from KISS.There are a lot of wrong reasons to things in radio. This is a prime example. The Party was fine if it had been done properly but it saves dollars to put satellite programming on the air.The Party could have been something but some of the "Parties" involved screwed up other stations and they screwed up the party. They should have made Gina the cornerstone, gone live all the time, played dance mixes and deeper cuts and should have had better imaging.Again you can't do things half-baked and expect people to fall in love with your station.Gina should have been PD if she wanted to be.A retro dance station is right up her alley.I was really dissapointed because that format has legs.Again you can't be a clone and think great things will happen. If there ever was a format for some creative, out of the box thinking, it was the party. The way to take points away from a heritage station like Kiss ain't with bad satellite programming,no localism &
bad sound quality.Guys, Beasley is the only organization in this area that seems to get it at all. They are not perfect but they understand personality radio better than the rest and that is a big reason they do well.Again just my opinion..

Beasley local? Let's start with Tom Joyner, John Boy and Billy, and Lex & Terry! At least get your facts straight. There was a gaping hole for a "personality driven, adult Urban AC." WIKS is one of the highest billing statons in G/N/J. They once asked Willie Sutton, "Why he robbed banks?" His answer was pretty simple, "That's where the money is!"

My sources tell me Gina is loving life. The staff is rallying around their new (and hopefully last ) GM. As for the signal, it was pretty competitive as a hip hop station.

The Facts are 107.9 is live mornings, middays, afternoons and at least two nights a week. The others for Beasley are live at least middays and afternoons.Gina is not only a friend but the consumate pro.She would be comfotable playing alterative polka because of her talent.Beasley and Next do the most live stuff. Most of the others do very little live.Kool isn't live much at all.The Bear is the same way.Talk 94.3 does two hours in the mornings and a couple of evening shows during the week and is on satellite the rest of the time.My point with The Touch is it isn't live at all. What fact wasn't straight??? I simply stated I thought the Party could have worked and maybe taken a few points away from Kiss if it was done a little differently and had some real promotion.I don't see what was inaccurate about what I said but thanks for the reply and again this is an OPINION board. No need to get your nose out of joint... I'm glad you replied.

The 101.1 signal has gone to pure absolute crap in the past month or so. It used to not be all that bad in Greenville, now in some parts WZTK from Burlington starts walking on top of it. A couple months ago it was running in mono for a week or so, and after that just went downhill and stayed there.

In regards to coverage, can the tower be moved to increase power. Burlington is 100,000 WZTK. Surprised it leaks into the area there.

To me, the reason Beasley has done well is long term consistency, not because they have the best or most personality/personalities. When one changes managers and formats there is no chance for consistency of programming, promotions and community involvement.

suprised at WZTK's signal, its a monster... of a signal mainly cause of its location right smack in the middle of NC....they have listeners from mount airy nc to fayetteville nc (listen to the calls on alan handleman)

I totally agree that the stable formats and management at Beasley are a big reason they do well.It is almost unheard of for the kind of tenure some folks have had there. It speaks well of Beasley as an organization and of the quality of the people there. At 107.9 I think I work with some of the best ever in this market. If I won the lottery and bought a station I would try to hire most of the 107.9 staff away.I worked alot of places and seen alot of things and top to bottom the 107.9 staff is probably the best I've ever worked with.Like I've said before overall Beasley seems to grasp the concept of good, live, people driven radio better than most.I'm not just saying that because I'm there. The 107.9 staff of today and the WRQR staff of 1983-1989 are the best I've ever worked with. When you go through
the bad which I have you appreciate the good even more.I have worked with some good folks outside of these two situations as well.107.9 does well and the potential is unlimited. With a few minor adjustments 107.9 could battle with KISS
and WRNS for the lead in this market.I really 100% believe that.I'm just lucky to be a small part of a good station with excellent people.
