The Track on John Dennis

Big item in the Herald's Inside Track (yeah, yeah, the gossip column) today about a phone message that John Dennis left on the voicemail of the Zone's Ryen Russillo. The actual mp3 of the message can be heard at barstoolsports.com.

(note: swear words). Dennis acknowledges the message but denies he influenced
a decision to leave Russillo off a Patriots post-game broadcast. (And, John?
It's called the Inside Track now. Norma Nathan passed away many years ago
so it is no longer the Eye.) Dennis said maybe Russillo put the clip on the Net (and later it winds up in the Herald) to get his name out there. Judge for
yourself. (Barstool sports quotes Russillo as saying the two parties talked again and now this is all behind them, and barstoolsports says the clip was NOT given to them by Ryen.)

Oh well, might be of interest for entertainment value. Not sure if this came
us during D&C today.

Wow, He was the last reason I listened to 'EEI in the morning. I am beyond fed up with Callahan, Meter is just an obnoxious know it all, and at times Dennis seems intelligent, and seemed to know what he was talking about. However, I am know 100% D & C free, I will never listen to them again. What a jerk for leaving tha kinda of message.

Well, let me say:

--Some might find this trivial, and Russillo says he talked again to
(Dennis) and "it's over" which means I guess things are now settled
between them, but listen to Dennis when he threatens Ryen. It might
be just macho talk, but what Dennis said if he should ever meet
up with the Zone talker sure sounds like a physical threat to me.
You can understand JD being upset with what his daughter told him
about what happened, and I would have hoped that JD would have talked
person-to-person with Ryen and hopefully they could have gotten
their stories straight, etc., but this sounds like a juvenile
hit-and-run call that Dennis left on the answering machine (maybe
it was a Zone phone number rather than Russillo's home). "Mr.
Russillo, this is John Dennis. I'm upset at what my daughter told
me about her encounter with you and I'd like to talk with you
about it. Please call me back at XXX-XXXX".

Should Dennis have said that?

--If Russillo indeed had a few too many, then he is partly responsible
as well. Drinkin' doubles don't make a party, to quote the country
song lyric Howie sometimes uses. And Howie might tell Dennis that
quote (from Martin Lomasney? can't remember) "Never write when you
can speak; never speak when you can nod; never nod..." etc.
Dennis left an audio paper trail of this incident behind.

--Note that the Track pointed out the relationship between the website
and WWZN; and maybe it's possible that "barstoolsports" wanted to help
out Russillo, either in getting out "the truth" about the incident,
or, yes even "getting his name in the paper".

--Boston Sports Media.com has a small mention of this; the writer at that site said that it makes Dennis look bad, "but will anything happen to him? Nope."

No, but it might sure hurt his reputation. As for whether or not Dennis
influenced the Pats Rock Radio Network's decision to back off on hiring
Russillo for the postgame show, who's to say. Dennis claims innocence there.<P ID="signature">______________

"I dont know who you are, I dont know who you are" but I know your number and decided to call and acknowledge that I KNOW WHO YOU ARE. What a cheap, stupid, blowhard this guy is. Being a tough guy on the phone is as authentically tough as being a tough guy on the internet. Why would Dennis bother?.

Just listened to the link. I only wish Dennis was that funny on his morning
show! Instant Classic!

"....Rotillo or Rosillo or Rodillo..."

The kid has earned himself the first-ballot into the Zip Rzeppa Hall of Fame.
Granted, he'll probably won't ever work anywhere in this market after
the Zone goes belly up, but the memories of him will always live on.

It is funny, Rusillo may have been drinking, but after listening to the message, "He weren't da only one on da sauce!" LOL

I think you're right. For Dennis to leave the message on the voicemail of a competing radio station's announcer and not think the man would at least play it on the air seems unrealistic. So he either wanted the publicity, did not think the guy would ever do anything with it because he would be so scared (lol) or he was indeed dipping into the sauce.

Very weird either way.

Call Vince McMahon!

Put John Dennis and Ryen (first name sp?) Russillo in a steel cage as the main event of the next WWE rassling card at the TD Banknorth Garden!

;)

> I tried to get back on the Bar stool site yesterday afternoon to play the clip for some office mates and I couldn't get the site to open. I thought either too many people were trying to log on at once or Dennis had a lawyer issue some sort of cease and desist.
