What do you do if you need an FM translator for your daytime only AM? Well, you find a seller who'll part with it for a fairly reasonable price. Does $40,000 sound good? Butler7Media, owner of KWJB 1510 in Canton, bought one from E-String Wireless a while back and the deal was quickly approved by the FCC. No surprise there.
The interesting part is that a few months ago the primary station to be relayed by translator K239AN 95.7 in Canton was listed as non-commercial KVNE in Tyler. Now an application to make a few technical changes shows that the station to be relayed is another non-commercial one, KATG 88.1 in Elkhart [formerly of Athens, community of license switched to Elkhart to accommodate the move of a commercial station from there to near Bryan/College Station, a whole 'nother story].
So the question is this: when does the pretending end? Why not cut to the chase, just go ahead and file an application for what will be a fill-in translator for KWJB?
