The trash on KISS FM

What is with the music KHKS has been playing lately? The playlist has become full of songs like Black Eyed Peas - My Humps:

What you gon’ do with all that junk?
All that junk inside your trunk?
I’ma get, get, get, get, you drunk,
Get you love drunk off my hump.

Who are they trying to target? Teenagers who smoke and skip school and have zero taste in music?

What's really funny is that this station mails advertisements to my 55 year old mother. I don't actually listen to any specific stations anymore because they are all so horrible. I know things are getting really bad because my mother, who has been listening to Mix 102.9 forever, is getting put off by the "weird sh*t" it has been playing.

> What is with the music KHKS has been playing lately?

It's not "werid" it's what's "in". Go to a sporting event (hockey etc) and listen to the music they play in between. It's the "in" music. Then look around you. I bet you'll see 7-year-olds dancing and singing to the "music" too. The lyrics aren't all that much different than they were maybe even 10 years ago. Go look up Salt N Pepa's "Shoop" or "Let's talk about sex". Kiss played that back in the day.

Speaking of which, I need to go burn a CD... I feel the need to "jam" on my way into work tomorrow :)

Sounds to me your gripes should be more directed at the record labels that think music like this would succeed on radio than the radio stations who play them.

Kiss has been playing that crap for a long time now. They have to. They're the hits of today.(if you can believe it). As far as Mix is concerned, they don't have a clue WHAT to play. Have you checked out their ratings lately. Sunny isn't even on the air anymore and they beat them in the last trend! Terrible programming. Terrible morning show. At least they still have Lisa Thomas, but that's not going to save them. It's only a matter of time.

Amen Howlin'....I don't know if the original poster meant to sound like the scared, small minded preacher in the movie "Footloose". But if it were up to him, there'd be no dancin'!!!!

And my DirecTV dish will include XM music in just over a month!! Even more of a reason to tune out the 'junk in the trunk'...
(Unfortunately, I am regretfully adding the Oasis to the junk list, ARRGH-UGH, too much non-jazz has crept into their playlist of late--one minute it's a fairly good jazz-ish song, the next it's crap!! Irritating!!)

You shouldn't be judging a radio station because of a bad song. Most top 40 stations are now playing "My Humps," not only Kiss. That's the record company or the group itself. Kiss FM, yes, has been playing trash music for a long time. Same with other songs from back in the day on other stations like Edge, K104, or even Jack. So again, it's not the station. It's the record company.<P ID="signature">______________

Whatever happened to good, wholesome tunes like 'Yummy, Yummy, Yummy (I got love in my tummy)', 'She Bop', and 'Lola'?

Kermi,Fonzie and the Swedish chef all agree the over all music product on radio reeks and contributes to global warming.

Re: The trash on KISS FM... lately?

Lately?

What about "I Wanna Sex You Up", "I Want Your Sex", "Givin' Him Somethin He Can Feel", and countless others over the past 20 years?

The problem is not the station. The problem is the record company.

The problem is not the record company. The problem is the artist recording the song.

The problem is not the artist recording the song. The problem is the people who buy the songs from the artist.

The problem is not the people who buy the songs. The problem is the people who raised them.

The problem isn't with the parents. The problem is the goverment not doing anything to fix it.

So... it's Bush's fault.

Hold up a minute. Personally, I don't like the song, but my 14 year old daughter who loves the song, not only brought home a very good report card today, but is in ROTC, and just taught her first Sunday School class in church last Sunday. She is a VERY respectful and obedient, but she is still a TEENAGER. Remember this. Our parents were disgusted with the music we listened to when we were teenagers. The music might not have been as provocative as it is today, but look at how the world is today. Did you ever think that you would see the things you see on t.v. nowadays? Times are changing, and as we get older, we are going to be shocked by the things we see, as well as what we hear.
