The "TROOPER"

WRKO used to have the "trooper" doing traffic reports, haven't heard him for over a week, anyone know if he's on vacation or is Malcom Alter going to be the permanent traffic reporter??

The trooper has retired, as of a few weeks ago. He did it quietly, and it wasn't announced on the air until his last traffic report (which I happened to hear, otherwise I wouldn't have known). Don't know if Malcolm Alter is permanent, though.Wonder if the State Police will retire Cruiser 680 too?

Thank you everyone for the information, I am saddened that he retired quietly and unnoticed, Grant was always a professional and an outstanding guy, I wish RKO or someone would have made a "fuss" like open up the lines for an hour so we could call in and tell Grant how much we appreciated him. We'll miss you Grant, congrats on the retirement and enjoy!

How did he get to be both a Statie and do the broadcast?

I liked when he used to say "the Central Artery is all bucked up" or "the lower deck of 93 is all bucked up", etc.... That "b" sure sounded almost like an "f" at times, but you knew it really wasn't...

Grant is multi talented! He's been doing both for years. Years ago, when Gibley's mens stores was the big advertiser for the Whitley Restaurant Show, Grant would sit in when Whitley was away or sick. I'm sure that last 6 months were tough on him what with the Boston this Morning nonsense, traffic updates every freakin' 10 minutes.......no wonder he retired!! :)
