When they launched Caliente 1440, Route 81 said that it meant "hot". I don't know much Spanish but based on WCDL for more than two weeks I have to believe Caliente means "dead air". Maybe we are all missing the point though. It must be successful because now they do the same thing on Caliente 730 WNAK. What a concept! They said that they had many many advertisers who wanted to jump on this innovative new programming. This begs the question however of just how do all those advertisers know when their spots air if no one can hear them? Do they give make goods? Or are the ears of the Hispanic listener able to hear some high frequency above what the rest of us can hear? Oh well, they must know what they are doing and they must have infinitely more listeners on these two stations than they possibly could have ever had with the old format when they actually put an audible signal out. Wait! Silly me! I just noticed that both WCDL and WNAK showed up and not all that bad either in the last book. I guess we'll see just how great they do this time around huh? They'll show us!
