The two former NJN radio stations in Ocean County

First off, I must say that 89.9/WNJM from Manahawkin sounds great and it is nice to get WHYY loud and clear, however I am wondering if they will ever add WHYY Arts & Information? (WHYY-HD2) With just 200 analog watts I doubt it would be worth it to even bother with HD.

90.3/WNJO from Toms River sounds terrible, the audio sounds very distorted even when I can manage to get the signal strong and clear. Unfortunately, the station gets out very poorly for 4,000 watts and isn't a reliable catch anywhere in Southern Ocean County.

Does anyone know how the two are being fed? With WNJM being 57 miles from WHYY and WNJO being the 57 miles from WNYC I doubt they would be using an over-the-air feed.

As a side note: I think it is great that Ocean County ended up getting BOTH splits from the NJN sale! 90.3 for WNYC and 89.9 for WHYY!

Being in WNJO's local area, I can tell you that, indeed, 90.3's audio is horrible .. very distorted ...
I'm not sure how it's being fed, but it's not an over-the-air feed from WNYC ...
The programming is similar to what NJN was doing, but with some New Jersey programming mixed in, usually in the early evening ...
And, they still have WBGO on overnights ..

Interesting to note, that when 90.3 and 89.9 were NJN, 90.3 was actually simulcasting 89.9 ...
I know this because there have been times that 89.9 was off the air .. and 90.3 was on the air and rebroadcasting static (in stereo, no less .. LOL) ..

And speaking of HD, when NJN owned the stations, they had planned to put HD on all the stations, but it never materialized ...
I still have the article that stated that they received a grant for all the NJN radio stations to go "digital" ..

On their website .. http://www.njpublicradio.org .. it states that they will revamp the programming schedule in the fall ..
Hopefully, they will also revamp 90.3's audio problem ..

(Interesting side note: on the website, it says WNJO is on 94.5 .. LOL ..)
