The ULTIMATE Seattle broadcaster is gone

It's hard to hold back the tears after hearing J.P. Patches is gone. Laughter was his legacy.

I could not agree more. I am so saddened. It does feel like a death in my own family. Rest in peace J.P., and I thank you sir, for all the great memories.

For those who did not hear and who are interested, there will be a memorial for Chris Wedes/J.P Patches on Saturday, September 8th at 3PM, McCaw Hall. It will be open to the public. They announced it over the weekend.

My family and I plan to be there

Well worth your time to watch or just listen to Saturday's tribute to JP. The only thing missing, or maybe I just missed it, was anything said by Bob Newman. JP's side kick. Most likely it was his choice? Too bad, because I'm sure the mic could have been taken to him in the audience. You'll find the tribute at Kirotv.com

I, as well as many of those next to me, were surprised and happy to see Bob Newman there. With his mobility issues it can't be easy for him to get around. The rumor circulating in the long line to get in to McCaw hall on Saturday was that he would not be in attendance, that he would only be in a taped segment. I am glad he was there to not only feel the love we all had for Chris/J.P, but the equal amount of love, affection and appreciation we have for him too. The tribute to J.P. was great and the streaming available on KIRO TV's website is far better than the edited version they aired on channel 7 Saturday night. Check it out.
