The Ups & Downs Of December

Nurse Jeff* and I have canceled classes for Intro To Lamptimer Operations for the next two days at the Buckeye Media Hut. Professor Oldiesfan will have his hands full making certain the numerous power grabbers are following their FCC authorizations for the month of December. Specifically: Sunrise at 7:30am and Sunset at 5:15pm. No doubt there will be a few surprises in store for Ancient Modulation listeners. We'll learn if Lumberyard 14~Forty can handle a pre-sunrise power limit of 490 watts and come on at 6am. (Catfish has opined that the Gumpdusky Scottsdale AM flagship can't go any lower than 500 watts). And then all ears will be on KFuNN as we find it hard to believe they can wait until 7:30am to switch from 100 watts to 22kw. Of course at the opposite end of the day we won't be surprised if the Big 15~Ten can't find a way to lower power at 5:15pm. Then there are other perpetrators like Kah Pay Achee Eckees 14~Eighty; KFNX Colon Blow 11 Hundred and others. We're getting all wee-wee'd up at the Media Hut as the faculty anxiously awaits Professor Oldiesfan report on 12/01!

As I'm waiting long past the specified monthly time for KFNN 1510 to
drop power, I'll do their synopsis separately in that thread.

Lumberyard 1440 was on the mark, other than the normal lamptimer
drift (now 2:19 late and counting), for both yesterday Nov. 30 and
today Dec. 1; but as usual, no legal ID at sign-on and sign-off.
The 6:00-7:30 AM PSRA period was barely audible this morning, as
was the case during most of November. 490 watts? 52 watts?
Somewhere in between? Paging catfish (with a "C")! :D

As for the others, all were playing by the rules except for KPHX
(the "Big 1480"), which is typically a day late and a dollar short.
They were already powered up at 7:03 AM today (for a 7:30),
however the indiscretion was not repeated this afternoon with a
power down at 5:15 PM (for a 5:15).

BTW, both KXXT 1010 and KNUV 1190 (both Tolleson COL) are
allowed a December daytime of 7:30 AM-5:30 PM, where most
if not all other AMs are 7:30 AM-5:15 PM.
