The use of the word DUHH!

I brought this up on the Boston Board....but have you noticed how much overkill the word: "DUHH" (assuming Duhh is a word) is getting.

Over the weekend, I must have counted a slew of ads for products (everything from cars to food stuffs) to on-air references to the word. Why is it that the moment a 'catch phrase' is developed...nearly every advertiser has to beat the sucker to death?

The line from FORREST GUMP immediately pops into my head:

"Stupid is as stupid does...Lieutenant Dan!" ::)

Agreed; but remember YOU have a trained ear. For the "average" listener, figure on no fewer than 845,000 mentions before the lightbulb clicks to the "on" position. DUHH!
