The Verdict Is out Between Renda vs CC and it is.......

The verdict is out and Renda has the rights to 99.9 Gator Country. It has been used since yesterday and the DJ's are even back to saying 99.9 Gator Country. It tells me that Renda just keeps on frying CC. It also says that CC cares about money, money, money....you get the point!

Thats why I gave up listening to QIK months ago and Rooster years ago because of CC's BS.

Renda vs CC

mburg- while I admire your passion, you have so much to learn about how the real world of competitive radio works.

Were I Clear Channel, I'd have done exactly the same thing to Renda/Gator. When a new competitor comes on, you do EVERYTHING to try and divert their time and energy. If for 2 weeks or so they had Renda chasing their tail, that's fine and great- nice to see some gamesmanship back in radio. Cox doesn't have the balls to do it but I'm glad to see compeititve fires still burn somewhere.

Your statement "Renda keeps frying CC" is just totally untrue- last time I checked (yesterday), CC's properties are frying Renda with 5 stations in the Top 10 to Renda's one (and one IS the lonliest number). You're seeing one month's rating trend here, a jock there, a concert event and trying to snowball them into some big win for Renda. Again, if I'm CC, it feels like a fly- sure, they're there and on-the-air, but they're hardly effecting anything about the way I do business.

Finally, "money money money" is the end objective. ALL COMPANIES are in business to make "money money money"- BTW, that includes Renda Broadcasting.

Here we go again! Do I need to post this under Ban Oldies Cat! LOL
Having done a little research on the book it skewed very male and somewhat urban.
WEJZ lost women but doubled men? Go figure.
WJGL is coming back to earth losing about 25% of their audience mostly men.
WKQL went up slightly 25-54 but in their core demo of 35-54 moved up to 11th from 14th. in 35-64 moved up from 14 to 9. The station picked up men but lost women.

WGNE was up in all demos and was only in the book for 6 weeks. with Adults 18-49 doubled their audience. In 25-54 almost doubled it. Not a bad start for a new station.

WROO Tanked! lost almost 2/3 of their audience 18-49 and the same 25-54. It looks like some went to WGNE since QIK is flat 25-54 and 18-49.
WMXQ had a decent book and moved up some as did WFYV. WOKV was down a little.
WAPE had a pretty good book as well. It looks like overall Cox had the best book.

Was CC move to try and stop Renda good business of course, I think they knew they would fail but it kept them guessing for a couple of weeks. I wonder if Renda will go after CC eith their Dixie doing traffic on WROO. All's fair in love and war.

Is Renda frying CC no never will but if WGNE keeps growing, WEJZ picks up the ladies and WKQL gets some help Renda could become more of a player in the market.

Renda vs CC

And THAT is a much more reasonable, grounded approach than the "rah rah Renda!" we're hearing all too often on this board.

Radio wars are always a marathon, never a sprint.

My guess is that WROO is/will be merely a casualty on the way to the ultimate prize: getting a few shares to move from WQIK to WGNE. WEJZ is one share out of 2nd place, and certainly a 7-share is not out of the question for them, looking at their history. If they get two shares to move from WQIK to WGNE, that moves WQIK down thru the ranker. Both of these things have to happen in concert for WEJZ to start pulling down the major money you get when you're at the top of the ranker.

My guess is that WEJZ is top 3 or 4 in the 25-54's. Many agencies only buy top 3, or even top-2 in a smaller market like Jacksonville.

How do you figure that WMXQ had a decent book? You must be looking at Spring 2003!

WFYV needs a lot of help. Look where they were a year ago.

WAPE is in a recovery mode, but far from where they were before WFKS started eating away at their numbers.

Cox had the best book?

OC:

Haven't you said the same thing about 1,000 times already
this week? I have a better approach:

Hey Gator Guys:

You need to start a 24 hour (a day)/7 days (a week) door-to-door
grassroots "We love Renda radio" blitz like the Jehovah's Witnesses do. Start tomorrow, hit 300,000 houses, apartments and dumpsters and get back with us in a year or two and give us an update on how many converts you get. Just don't give out any Kool Aide. See ya in 2008 or so.

Re: Renda vs CC

WAPE is in recovery mode.....why cant u just admit WAPE is kicking Kiss's ass. Of course there numbers aren't as good as they were before WFKS was there b/c theres more options. I dont know if you have listened to the 2 stations recently but Kiss has nothing on APE.

I would not say that WAPE is kicking WFKS's ass. You need to look at the 18-34 numbers (the target demo), not 12+.

Renda vs CC

uh, no (maybe a few times, but there are some who don't want to hear it and keep telling me I'm full of it).

How would you know there Puddin'? This is your first post!
Or was it? Read on!

> Just wanted to let you know that this North Florida radio info post site is a great source of comedy for those of us on the inside at Corporate.

Martha Stewart posted that on May 14th!

>Keep up the acerbic barbs!

That was Puddin's closer, not to get Martha and Puddin' confused!

Radio Info lesson number one. When someone post tells you that "All of us over here are laughing at you", somebody done did something to get their goat!
