The voice

Who has the greatest voice in the DFW market?

In my opinion, eye ... or ear ... of the beholder.

Tony
Tony Lyndell Williams

It's hard to beat Ron Chapman's voice, but I enjoy listening to Stever Eberhart and I always thought the late Don Day had a friendly, warm voice.

Best voice: I vote for Tempie Lindsey... Back in the Oasis days I would also have to include Lynn Briggs and Tim Garrison. Also, Lisa Thomas when she was on Mix.

Best laugh: Gail Lightfoot

Ok, Are we talking current radio or ancient radio people?

Jimmy Stewart on WBAP, a very smooth and distinctive delivery. He's still on the EAS announcement so I consider him to be a ``current voice''.

The deep ones: Charlie Van Dyke, Doc Morgan, John B. Wells, Doyle King, Randy Coffey, Rick Vanderslice, Larry Dixon, Scott West.

Baritone and other male voices: Mike Selden, Dick Risenhoover, Christopher Haze (Randy Brown,) Larry James (Thompson,) Jason Walker, Steve Eberhart, Jack Schell, John McCarty, Mitch Carr, Ron Chapman, Cat Simon, Steve McCoy, Rick Fulgham, Ron McAlister (Jenkins.)

Female: Tempie, Nancy Johnson, Pamela Steele, Martha Martinez, Sharon Wilson (Golihar,) Valier Smith, Wyvonne St. John, Lynne Haley, Laura Houston.

Well, hell Mike - you I'm the only one you left out!!!

Currently?

Brad Barton! Not only is he an outstanding meteorologist, he has the chops to go with it!

Charlie Jones is another good one! Very relaxed and down to earth sounding.

Jay Weaver on KDNT. He was the voice of the northern branch of the Golden Triangle. Nobody could "country announce " better than Jay back in the day, even before we really knew Bill Mack. Jay was considered the Gary Owen of small market radio, and he was asked to be the "KORN DJ" on "Hee Haw" but architecture and building his subdivisions came first. Jay is a third cousin of famed Country actor Dennis Weaver, and back in 1961-62 he played"Chester" on Gunsmoke and would visit with 'Kuzzin Jay" on "his here radio show".

Indeed! And from Memories 96.7. Eliot's got some great pipes. Also forgot my buddy John Scott, who can get down and deep with the best of them.

Nobody nominated Jay McFarland of Ernie and Jay.
