The voice

Natural, energetic ...

That sums it up.

Mitch definitely has one of the best natural voices on local radio these days....but, if I learned anything in all the years at KVIL, it was that a good voice is a nice plus...but at the end of the day, it's what you do with it that REALLY matters....

That, and a good board, a great mic, and a fanstastic engineer

Even though it's for play-by-play, my vote is for Brad Sham. He's a real pro in that area of the biz!

It's a known fact that I love the sound of my own voice. I'm in my 40's and sound like I am in my 20s on the air. I'm not a very good looking man-I have a face for radio so all I have is my voice. When I call my voicemail I'm really not interested in my messages but love the sound of me on the out going message.

I'm sure there is medication for my condition but what the hell..if I can't have the looks I certainly can have the voice. If I don't toot my own horn, who will?

:) :D ::)

Well shoot.... I cast my vote for Brad (Barton), and what the hell happens? Unbelieveable. Where will we go for the best storm coverage now? Somneone else needs to hire Barton, and quickly.

Hey, give Dan an "A" for honesty.

I was being cheeky but at the same time it's true. How sad it that?

Nothing wrong with liking your voice. Most people cringe when they hear their voices on tape.

Oh, the link you sent states not accessable or has been deleted.

Decades ago before puberty kicked in, my voice sucked! I wouldn't say I cringe when I hear it now, but it's also not all that stellar. I'd say it's just "average".

Glad someone said "Charlie Jones" earlier. I put a vote in for Tim Garrison as well... he even sounds good streaming on the net in Las Vegas.

We all feel just like you do...but about ourselves. Great post!

My favorite voices of Dallas radio. Okay, I didn't move here until the late 90's. But here's my list in no particular order:

Jimmy Stewart - He retired from WBAP shortly after I moved up here, but not so soon that I wouldn't stop and listen to whatever he was saying when he was on. The man could read a telephone book and make it sound compelling.

Linda Martin - Formerly KAAM. I know her and worked with her. She had a "caring" sound that came right through the speakers when you listened to her.

Charlie Jones - Friendly and familiar. Even when he's mad he sounds congenial. The best on the air at the moment.

Andy McCollum - DFW's answer to Paul Harvey. Good day!

Brad Barton - Meteorologist Extraodinare. He could tell me it's snowing in August and I'd believe it!

Neil Sperry - The voice of God advises you what to plant and how to make 'em grow.

Kevin McCarthy - The car guy. I would buy a Hugo from this man.

The late John LaBella - One of the real gentlemen in this business. Gone but never forgotten.

Deacon Don Evans - KPBC and KAAM (770). Possessor of the best "pipes" I ever heard. That'll preach!

CrBig Band

CR. I'll give you a big +1 on Deacon Don. I never met him, maybe had him on the phone once or twice for dumb questions about religious music but just an incredible sound and style. And he did everything over at 1040/770.

And for me -100 on Linda Martin, for me she was nails on the blackboard and a complete tune out when ever I happened by 77.
