The way BAS looks at Mount Vernon

BAS might shock everyone in Mount Vernon and flip it to "Hits and Favorites" but my sources at CC Mount Vernon tell me not likely. CC sold everything in the building, including the automation system it uses. However, BAS has to buy the agreement to use it, which I believe they just did last week. Plus they are currently in search of a new voice guy.

BAS's goal is to make all of their stations live and local by 2010. Sandusky is on the slate for 2007, and they are interested in buying some other stations in West Central Ohio.

However, BAS may realize they don't have the money to go Live and Local right away, so they may sign a 1 year deal to go ABC. I also heard that Saga was interested in getting out of Mansfield. Has anyone else heard this? Rumor has it Sandusky is going to be a rated market with a goal set at 2007 or 2008. Is Saga interested in trading up some stations????

Since their inheriting the NG 2 system at WQIO is on, they may as well sign a support contract with prophet and use the library that WQIO already has.

They would loose the jocks that are WAN'ed in from CC but I dont know how much WANed jocks WQIO used. If I was them, they should find someone to track mid-days, afternoons and leave Tesh on at night and run local in the mornings for now and jockless overnights (as QIO is currently under CC ownership)

They could easly put ABC on air, but seems like a waste of money unless they can easly and cheaply get ABC on air because of their other contracts with ABC on their other stations.
______________

I wonder if they do 1/2 cash 1/2 barter...ABC is known to do that.

I'm curious about what even might be available for BAS to buy in West Central Ohio..CC dumping 106.5 Greeneville? (Doubtful). Maybe WMVR since owner Dean Miller died. John Coe retiring from WCSM, Celina?
______________

The Sales guy in Mount Vernon said they had expressed interest in a Lima Rimshot combo

Interesting.....

Did he name stations?
MAT

The way BAS (Banc of America Securities) sees it, they don't believe in local formats, ABC's "Hits and Favorites" are on the way.

Seems that that's the exact opposite of what others are saying...that BAs wants to go live 24/7. It's just not going to happen overnight.
______________

-----"Sandusky is on the slate for 2007...." They don't own a station in Sandusky, do they? Or are you saying they hope to buy or build in Sandusky by 2007?
Thanks for the clarification.

When you talk Sandusky, you also include Fremont and Bellevue. Everyone out here includes Norwalk, Fremont Bellevue, Huron, Port Clinton, etc. as part of the Sandusky Market.

If that's the case, then what about neighboring Tiffin? WCKY/103.7 puts a solid signal into the area. Not to mention that I have heard a promo or two for 103.7 on sister station WCPZ/102.7 - in Sandusky. Or what about Lorain - 25 miles from Cleveland?

For the record, BAS does own WOHF/99.1 and WXOF/92.1, both based in Fremont. WFRO did have a hugh signal in the past; it has diminished a bit since the tower was moved to Port Clinton.
