The week at work

Just got back into AM DXing at a new location. Went on sort of a nighttime bender this week. I operate another forum, mostly devoted to homemade radios, even though I don't own any anymore. I posted my week's loggings there, and will post a link here, rather than try to reformat the log. AM DXing is what got me interested in radio almost 60 years ago, and it's fun to get back to it, and have this forum to hang out in.

Very nice catch on my semi-local 870 KFLD Pasco. And I see you got Rebelde on 1620. They are often heard here, under KYIZ and whatever's left of KSMH when nulled out. And still no answer from most-wanted KOZN NE!! I still need the 950 in Denver, which you did get.

Nice string of catches, KR1S. I've probably heard/logged 1/2 to 2/3 of them, so many of them -- especially on the Top Band -- are Western US wide DX signals.

The one channel you heard stations on that I've not heard was the ones on 550. All I get on 550 most nights is KOAC in Oregon, with a couple other stations peeking through now and then, the most notorious being the one in Montana I can't remember offhand.

I don't know Spanish, but I can recognize German, which pointed right at XEPL. KFYI in Phoenix is only 180 miles from me, so it wasn't hard. KBOW 550 in Butte, MT, is one I'd like to get. I got lucky and caught KOWB in ND on 1660 last night, just in long enough for an ID, when KBRE went into a fade. MT and SD don't look so easy.

The most dependable Montana stations I hear are KOFI 1180 Kalispell (nightly) and KXLF 1370 Butte (usually on good DX nights). If you don't have a local on 1180, KOFI might be good to try for.

KOFI hasn't appeared, but have two new Mexicans and KERN Bakersfield, which popped up on their sunset. XEUBS on the Baja has some driving SS R&R going right now.
