"The Weekend" without Joe Pags

Pags gave it up. This weekend's show was hosted by Simon Conway (WHO-AM, Des Moines.) He was excellent ... I hope he winds up with the permanent gig.

(He's also filling in on WFLA.)

Not sure why Pags would give up a national syndicated gig? If you want more time off, why not just take your Thursday and Friday shows, minus anything that might expire, and cut them up into a 3 hour weekend show? The primary Premiere Networks hosts get aired on many iHeart stations on weekends: Hannity, Beck, Clay Travis & Buck Sexton. Rush did the same thing. Its all material from Thursday and Friday.

Unless iHeart won't let Pags have access to his weekday shows on WOAI? The weekend show is not on Premiere Networks. It's syndicated by another company.

Pags always recycled material from his weekday shows. Good for him, not necessarily great for the audience. I hope "The Weekend" becomes a 100% live show, and Simon Conway would be a perfect host, IMO.

Michael Brown seems to be the permanent host and he's doing a good job. Big improvement over the original.

"The Weekend" started with rotating hosts; then became "The Weekend with Mike McConnell (from WLW, Cincinnati). This lasted until his ill-fated move to WGN. Pags took over after that as I recall.

Would it be possible to do a live weekend syndicated talk show? Not unless enough stations agreed to air it at the same time. When would it be done? 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on a Saturday? But that's 7 a.m. on the West Coast. "The Weekend" airs at all different times on Saturdays and Sundays, across all the time zones. Each affiliate decides.

Michael Brown is the morning drive host on one of iHeart's three talk stations in Denver, KHOW. (Yes, there are three. 850 KOA is mostly local with news and sports, 760 KDFD is all syndicated with the Premiere line up and 630 KHOW is a mix of local and syndicated talk.)

So does Brown do a separate show for "The Weekend" or recycle his KHOW Thursday and Friday segments?
