The West Wing Outcome

Leo dies of a heart attack; the race is very close between Santos and Vinnick and NBC is doing its up most best to drag this show out until the bitter end.
The final episode, I believe, will be that Santos wins the election in spite of Leo’s fatal heart attack and that he will select Congressman Sam Seaborn of California as his running mate; thus the appearance of Rob Lowe in the final episode.
Besides you know that this show is pure fiction. I mean after all a Republican candidate for president who doesn’t bend to the will of the religious right-wing element that has taken over that party. Come on!
I only wish there were more Arnie Vinnicks in the Republican Party today. Even John McCain is starting to sell out to the conservative base.
FDR and Wendell Wilke had a great idea after the 1940 election. Instead of Republican and Democrats, have liberals and conservatives run for office.

The final outcome is already known, because some fool in the casting office released sides to cast the last couple of episodes which included lines referring to "President Elect __________."

Your VP selection would be unrealistic, because Sam lost his Congressional race, or so we've been led to believe.

What is REALLY unrealistic is that such a candidate would be struggling as hard as Vinick has been struggling on "The West Wing." The Religious Right would never back a Democrat, and some moderate Democrats would find someone like Vinick appealing. The race should have been a walk for Vinick.

Its also unrealistic that a (R) could have California (and his home state) in play and loose SC and TX...regardless if that where the (D) is from.

Don't read above, if you haven't seen it yet

The word "outcome" does tend to indicate that it may or may not tell you what happened on the show. Not like it was a misleading title or anything.

Regardless of when Mr Lowe makes his appearance, there are four more episodes scheduled. The election result is set for this weekend, followed by "Requiem" which is the funeral for McGarry..and two more episodes after that.
