94.3 in Fort Walton is about 60 miles from 100kw WMEZ's tower in Seminole/Robertsdale, it's also about 75 miles from WFLF's tower down Port St. Joe way. I think there is a C3 94.3 in the Dothan market, that shouldn't be an issue. That's definitely a useable frequency for a translator in FWB... might not be such a great frequency to DX the Patriot from Navarre though. As long as The Patriot on 94.3 is tight and doesn't spill over to 94.1 or 94.5 everything should be okay now... I assume. Now that 94.1 is co-owned with 93.3 there isn't any competition between the two stations... not even a little bitty bit... so 94.1's signal east of Santa Rosa county isn't on Cumulus' radar.
I'm wondering if moving one channel down from 94.5 is a minor change and therefore easier to do than moving to 97.1 or 99.1 or any other frequency more than 2 or 3 channels away? Would the transmitting antenna be tuned to the 94.? area or are AM antennas the only ones that are sized for different ends of the dial?
Also, isn't 94.3 limited to under 100 watts because of 1400's low power? If Hale installed HD on 100.3 and simulcasted the Patriot on 100.3 HD2 he would be able to pump out the full 250 watts on 94.3, right?
