The WFLF Jammer is off of 94.5 but..

Freedom 94.5 is now at 94.3, what was he thinking? With 94.1 to the left and 94.5 to the right, hardly any car radios will plop there. He should have picked 97.1 or 99.1 those are clear frequencies for a translator.

Or is this a mistake?

YW, according to radio locator it's a CP, 98 watts? Good LUCK!
Their signal is total crap, hearing fox news and dead silence there after.

BTW.. the new 107.9 (WPFM)?? Are they under new ownership? Listening to them right now. How "new" is it?

Poor Rob, he can't hear WFLF but a guy over in the DX forum logged it in SE Wisconsin the other day via E-skip. And many nights it's crystal clear late at night along the beach in Gulf Shores, AL. Guy can't catch a break! ;D

94.3 in Fort Walton is about 60 miles from 100kw WMEZ's tower in Seminole/Robertsdale, it's also about 75 miles from WFLF's tower down Port St. Joe way. I think there is a C3 94.3 in the Dothan market, that shouldn't be an issue. That's definitely a useable frequency for a translator in FWB... might not be such a great frequency to DX the Patriot from Navarre though. As long as The Patriot on 94.3 is tight and doesn't spill over to 94.1 or 94.5 everything should be okay now... I assume. Now that 94.1 is co-owned with 93.3 there isn't any competition between the two stations... not even a little bitty bit... so 94.1's signal east of Santa Rosa county isn't on Cumulus' radar.

I'm wondering if moving one channel down from 94.5 is a minor change and therefore easier to do than moving to 97.1 or 99.1 or any other frequency more than 2 or 3 channels away? Would the transmitting antenna be tuned to the 94.? area or are AM antennas the only ones that are sized for different ends of the dial?
Also, isn't 94.3 limited to under 100 watts because of 1400's low power? If Hale installed HD on 100.3 and simulcasted the Patriot on 100.3 HD2 he would be able to pump out the full 250 watts on 94.3, right?

Yes. Moves to 1st, 2nd, or 3rd adjacents (93.9/94.1/94.3/94.7/94.9/95.1) and to IF-related channels (105.1/105.3) are "minor changes"; moving anywhere else is a "major change". "Major changes" must wait for a filing window, which could be another ten years..... unless you can get a waiver, which is not impossible.

Driving around Pensacola today with an exceptionally strong signal on WFLF and it got me to wondering if the Patriot's move from 94.5 to 94.3 down in FWB opened up the 94.5 frequency for use as a translator in the Pensacola area?

It should work, it's 2 hops from both 94.1 and 94.9. I think the stations on frequency in Jackson, AL and Long Beach, MS are far enough away.

just what I was thinking. I guess now that our friends in Destin and FWB can listen to WFLA, our days of listening in Pensacola must be numbered. Whenever Pensacola has it's own great translator invasion, 94.5 looks like prime real estate,

Speaking of WFLF, the last few days I've heard the station, totally clear during the day AND night here in Foley. Listened to much of Leo Laporte's tech show earlier today with 10/10 on the old signal meter, with the antenna fully recessed.
