The Who Channel 10, YUK

Coming soon, The Who channel, 24 hours of The Who’s music, what a waste, let’s add to other wasted channels such as Rolling Stones radio on channel 98, or 24/7 of all Elvis radio, Sirius keeps taking away stations and adding stuff like this. Why?
Elvis can be heard on ch. 5 ch. 6 and even ch. 7
The Rolling Stones and The who’s music can be heard on ch.6 ch.7 ch.8 ch.9 ch.14 ch.15
Ch.16 ch.17 ch.18 ch19, and im sure Ive missed some, all Im saying, as of lately Sirius have removed one of a kind stations, and have left the 15 or more rock channels alone, I’m not saying to get rid of all the rock stations, but they could combine some of the rock channels and give back some of the stations we have been robed of.

I have to agree. Even though The Who Channel is promotional and not permanent, I can't understand why you'd burn a channel with a single artist. And they are certainly narrowcasting beyond any of my needs when it comes to rock music. I love the rock stations but a couple of channels could be combined.

By the way, what time did the cutover on channel 10 take place?

I like how on the Sirius web page under the Bridge it says "The Bridge is under construction". They forgot to put the word again after construction though. Let's hope that they get the renovations right this time when the Bridge re-opens ;D

They booted the Bridge before for the Boss, and now again for the Who. Why cant some other channel take its' turn covering this one artist special programming stuff? You mean to tell me the Korean Channel gets more listeners than the Bridge? I highly doubt it!! Spread the "love" around, quit picking on the Bridge!! Anyidea when this disaster, I mean special will be over? ::)

god am i glad i cjose xm over them..wsm is gone. and now they take off the bridge for a channel dedicated to the who?? its 2006. not 1976. arent the who in wheelchairs now ;D their own channel. are they nuts?? ???
an all anybody channel is stupid..but the who, stones and elvis? whats next..the beatles? ac/dc..bruce springsteen..no wait they already did that ..the carpenters ;D

BTW they said the Rolling Stones channel was going to be for a short time, a promo thing, well it's been well over a year, maybe 2, and it's still on!!!

Looks to me like Sirius' dream is to have all of its music channels "branded" with a big name and programmed elsewhere. Having a label or some other corporate entity pay for a channel AND program it is certainly more cost-effective than going out and hiring a knowledgeable PD, right? And what would generate more buzz at retail -- a channel with the "official" Elvis Presley/Rolling Stones/Metropolitan Opera brand on it, or one programmed by a genre expert whom only radio geeks would be familiar with?

Mel Karmazin is all about the bottom line, always has been. Remember, this is a guy who once called the creative side of television "arts and crafts." What makes you think he and his flunkeys hold musical programming in any higher regard?

If their objective is to have big-name channels programmed elsewhere, then they blew it by dropping WSM. The most legendary name in country radio in America, home of the "Grand Ole Opry" for 81 years, the big name personalities like Eddie Stubbs and Kieth Bilbrey - this is one big name station they had, then watered down, and now eliminated. Ch. 62 plays classic country and has WSM longtime jock-Opry announcer Hairl Hensley, but it comes nowhere close to the overall presentation of WSM.

There is also nothing like the Bridge, a 'listen at work' station unlike many others. Ch. 4 and it's soft pop mix is good, but there is only some crossover with the soft rock of the Bridge.
