Mark Parenteau.

He was one of the greats. Always made you feel like you were listening in, not being talked down to.

Are we allowed to discuss him yet?

When I heard that they went back to using "The Rock of Boston" tag the other day I was almost thinking they should go back to using the old Mark voiced promos. I know they never would but I just think for history sense they should throw them in every once and a while. Even if they have to strike some deal with him to use his voice. I'm thinking he'd go for it... what else is going on in Kentucky. At least he could be the ID voice. Should'nt it be his voice saying "The rock of boston...WBCN Boston"? Seems like it should! Almost seems like his saying.

I'm not going down that other road but I agree he was a great DJ.

Good fun!

I as a listener, really enjoyed Mark, his take on things was very funny. I do miss that. I wonder if the type of shows from 1986 could be tolerated on the dial today. I hate to believe that good old radio is gone forever. Billy West bits like "Dick Macgiver, Rosie from Revere," etc. were funny .How about "Woodie be Gone" Whytell Records, if it's Whytell, it'll never sell. So fun and entertaining, you would never leave the station because you never knew what you would miss. That was the "hook" in my opinion . But who am I? not in the "target" group any longer? Please post your thoughts. I would love to read them.

I would like to give that ID a crack, maybe have a contest for listeners to try to imitate the voice, and use it for the fame, not even get paid for it. What do you think? God knows we all heard it enough to try it.

Re: Good fun!

How about going back to their original slogan..."Ugly radio is dead"!

(Oops...Sorry! I guess that one is from before when most of you reading this were born...)<P ID="signature">______________
"Be seeing you..."</P>

How bout his old dog's name stain. Can anybody call his old dog? Here Stain... Come....
Old weird Mark.... Mark Arentoo... Parenteaul guidence!
He was a great DJ! When the cow was stolen from the hilltop he knew it was one of his wacky listeners. He had it back in two days... Yes everyone listened to the radio back then but it was still fast recovery. He had an ability to make you all think as listeners that you where one of "old weird Mhark's friends.."
And I think we all where....the city seemed very small.

Yes we all know where he is now and again I'm not going there...
but as Paul said he was one of Boston Best DJ's
