The WLNE-6 And WPRI-12 Webmasters Must Have Been Asleep

I would think that because he is a resident of Rhode Island, the income tax evasion trial of "Survivor 1" winner Richard Hatch probably generated a lot of interest in the Providence area.

As I write this, it's 2:20 P.M. EST on January 25th, about half an hour after it was announced that Hatch was guilty of three charges of tax evasion.

The WJAR-10 website had the news that Hatch was guilty on their website a few minutes after the verdict was announced.

As of this writing, neither WLNE-6 nor WPRI-12 had on their websites the news that there had been a verdict, never mind that Hatch was convicted on three tax evasion charges.

The webmasters of those two stations must have been out to lunch and durfing that time, there must have been no one at either station who knew how to post the story on their websites.

At least as far as reporting it on the Internet, WJAR was way, way ahead of it's rivals.

Update, 2:25 P.M. Eastern time: Within the last five minutes, WPRI had put the news of the Hatch verdict on their website. At this writing, WLNE has yet to post anything about the verdict on their site.
Edited by Joseph_Gallant on 01/25/06 07:26 PM.

Hatch managed to stretch his 15 minutes of fame (or shame) a little longer than most people. At this point, it's just a story of someone breaking the law. It just so happens that this particular person has/had some notoriety for a few years. And no one has really heard that much of him recently except for the tax evasion story.

Aside from his Survivor "fame" and his time on the old Charlie Wilde Show on the old Eagle 93.7, I dont think he's done anything productive to warrant continued media interest....until now.

It's mostly a non-story and certainly not worthy of any radio station, tv station, newspaper, magazine, or website to make it a front and center story, never mind going out of their way to post it immediately regardless of whether it's in his hometown/state or not.

He broke the law, he is paying for it. It's done, who cares, case closed.

Somewhere, Sue Hawk is smiling.

Hatch was actually on Star, not Eagle. "The Wilde Thing" was the name of Charlie's show. Obviously this is the TV board, but if I recall correctly, there were issues with Hatch failing to get to Boston for the start of the show, etc., that led to his firing.

Heard 3 different stations give 3 diff. answers to sentencing possibilities: 3y, 13y,30y. Somebody didn't get it right.

No offense but who cares?
He doesn't deserve the media coverage he has been getting in this non-news story that everyone is covering.
