I would think that because he is a resident of Rhode Island, the income tax evasion trial of "Survivor 1" winner Richard Hatch probably generated a lot of interest in the Providence area.
As I write this, it's 2:20 P.M. EST on January 25th, about half an hour after it was announced that Hatch was guilty of three charges of tax evasion.
The WJAR-10 website had the news that Hatch was guilty on their website a few minutes after the verdict was announced.
As of this writing, neither WLNE-6 nor WPRI-12 had on their websites the news that there had been a verdict, never mind that Hatch was convicted on three tax evasion charges.
The webmasters of those two stations must have been out to lunch and durfing that time, there must have been no one at either station who knew how to post the story on their websites.
At least as far as reporting it on the Internet, WJAR was way, way ahead of it's rivals.
Update, 2:25 P.M. Eastern time: Within the last five minutes, WPRI had put the news of the Hatch verdict on their website. At this writing, WLNE has yet to post anything about the verdict on their site.
Edited by Joseph_Gallant on 01/25/06 07:26 PM.
