The WNCX/Radio 92.3 Facebook Fan Posts

Has anyone noticed that when you visit WNCX and Radio 92.3 on Facebook, there are people who are complaining about the morning show and format changes, and even resorting to profanity, insults and namecalling. I find all of that uncalled for and downright dumb. I've noticed that some of the more offended ones have been deleted (the ones with profanity and one person calling someone "homosexual"). Those are very childish and rude.

One guy who keeps posting on WNCX is named "Kevin Whitney" and has the old WMMS-era "Maxwell Show" logo as his profile pic. He keeps mentioning Maxwell and won't stop until WNCX makes a statement on why he's gone, which they probably won't. Those postings are getting old. One woman with a Steelers logo as a profile pic made a bizzare reference to a catchphrase Maxwell used on his show as response. One comment she made seemed like it got removed on FB.

I just find it hard to swallow with people being mean about their anger with their favorite show and station gone. Though I want it stop, I doubt it will for a while.

Facebook allows us to catch a glimpse of what the average joe thinks about a variety of different topics. Unfortunately, the average joe is stupid and immature, so we get posts such as the ones you're seeing on NCX's page. Social media ain't exactly the best thing since sliced bread after all.

Just as long as they don't ask what Michael Stanley's person problem is.

Totally agree.

(I know what you're talking about, but I'm sorry, the subtle typo DID make me chuckle a bit. I needed it... ;))

Yeah, I noticed it after it was too late. Nothing tanks good snark like a typo.

Looks like CBS totally took the "radio 92.3" facebook page away. For good.

Try the link. It no longer works.

I can't blame them, really. Especially after all of the vicious posts that were lobbed at them.

Is CBS guilt-free? Most likely not. They should have maintained a webstream for "radio 92.3" after the switch, and I'm not a fan of "HD Radio" in the least. But the way posters handled it was universally bad, and again, shows the dark side of social networking.

Basically, it's the minority, messing it up for the majority. Social networking can be a good thing as long as one remains social. As some know, I post a Question of the Day on my FB wall, and things can get spirited, especially when I post a political QotD. I do have to govern it a little, but I only have 362 "friends". Imagine what things are like when you have thousands who "like" the page. More difficult to govern, especially when you have the limited hired help that most media companies have nowadays.

Indeed. I can understand why people were upset.

But the way they handled it on their FB page probably wasn't lost on the CBS Cleveland management team. I wouldn't be surprised if, in three months, the HD2 channel will give way to a relay of WFAN or any of the other "Fans" sports stations. After all, I lost count of people throwing curses at the page admins and vowed "never to listen again" and would "never even think about buying an HD Radio."

So... they would then have no need to keep the format at all, no? After all, no one is apparently bothering to listen.

The Radio 92.3 FB page is still active as of now, and one person is asking Q104 to go alternative and quit fighting with KISS. That won't happen.

Also, glad to see the Maxwell posts stopped on NCX's FB page. Now there are those requesting Captain Tony McGinty to be on NCX. Now he should be a part of the team there.

Funniest post was one person saying, "The CBS radio station you shoulda changed is 106.5 The Lake. It's basically Q104 with a Gen X bend. I C BS over all over this!" I hope that person is not allowed to vote or operate heavy machinery in any way.

One other troll, Danny Mickol, has been repeatedly complaining and threatening never to listen to "radio 92.3" ever again. (Oh, gee, why doesn't he just unlike the page? Is he THAT lazy?) I've blocked and reported multiple people on there after they all attacked me personally (I even had to report one poster who threatened physical violence on others).

Danny is just a victim of his own ignorance, as this moment of sheer brilliance proves:
@Radio 92.3...

The overwhelming majority of people that are commenting in regards to the new format are against it? WE WANT THE MUSIC BACK!

You had the alternative rock market fan base to yourself. Now you have to share the sports fan base with WTAM 1100, ESPN Radio 850AM and WEOL 930AM.

I can't wait to see your new station FAIL miserably!

Nevermind that WEOL/930 is a small suburban news/talk station that can't break under-35 demos to save their life, but facts apparently don't get in the way. After I called him out for his ignorance, an ally of his hurled the F-bomb at me. So I reported and blocked the guy. This is getting tiresome.

I have no sympathy for any of these children.

Seriously, if I were in the Halle Building offices, I'd just rip the page down, drop the format on HD2, and that would be that. They have proven that they aren't worthy of a cheapo, cookie-cutter pseudo-alt-rock-punk-pop-active-rock format that was of little tangible value to the market.

I know I'm done with them for good. I unliked the page as of tonight.

I just tried to check out the Radio 92.3 Cleveland FB page and it appears to be gone. I think CBS got sick of the angry and hateful posts. No loss really.
