The Word From Unity

In the late 70s / early 80s there was a short radio program called "The Word From Unity". It was a production from Unity Village, and it aired locally on former easy listening station KOAX-FM 105.3 in Dallas. Does anyone have an aircheck, from any station, that has this program?

Thanks,

R

In the St. Louis area, there were at least two stations that carried the feature. One was KMOX-FM, and another was WSIE in Edwardsville, IL. I don't have any recordings of it, but I have seen them on youtube. Another suggestion is to contact Unity directly.

Thanks! YouTube was a great suggestion, why didn't I think of that? :)

It was a well-produced series of Public Service Announcements, with very uplifting background music. Some days of the week, they'd be voiced by a professional voice person but sometimes they'd be voiced by a celebrity, such as Steve Allen. "Hello, I'm Steve Allen and the word today is 'Compassion.'" Below I have the You Tube link for a Unity TV spot from Joseph Campanella.

And one from Wayne Rogers of M*A*S*H...

I remember KYW Newsradio 1060 aired them in Philadelphia. They'd invite you to write to Unity Village, Missouri. Even though the spots were fairly general about do-goodism, with no overt religious message, I have the feeling if you wrote, they'd try to convince you to be an evangelical Christian.

In my experience, no, but for a while after sending for the book, they'd keep sending mail wanting donations.

I can remember hearing these spots as late as the mid-1990s on WATH in Athens, OH where I attended grad school (they would air in a half-hour slot before Rush Limbaugh that often featured a hodgepodge of other syndicated fare like Stan Freberg's short essays).
