The Word On 99.9

You are talking about the translator in Irving, correct? If so, I bet The Word is just a placeholder.

hmmm driving home from work on Whitlock/Keller Springs in Carrollton, all i heard on 99.9 was KLUR fighting with something, my guess would be WACO. KLUR was winning until my 99.9 starting coming in about ~2500ft away as the crow flies.

Well you were not going crazy. Yesterday and today I was fumbling around the dial on my way to and from work and I heard The Word on 99.9. It was VERY weak but switching back and forth from 100.7 to 99.9 I could tell that it was definitely the same programming. I also found The Word on 101.5 and it was much stronger than 99.9. I actually caught a 100.7 The Word ID on 101.5. Can anyone dig up any translator info??? I live in 75006 and work in 75234. Maybe my Kenwood unit is going crazy since the spacing is the same both ways of 100.7? ;D

Why is this even any real concern? So what if KWRD has a translator and it's "skimming" over to 101.5.
it just interesting to know why a full blown Class C needs translators at all in the DFW area...

I just wonder why 'The Word' is on at all, on any frequency. Your cell phone probably has more listeners....

Translators are basically worthless. Unless your commute is less than 50 feet I'd say nobody is listening in cars.

Keep in mind that in car listening only accounts for between 1/4 and 1/3 of all radio listening. While there are some translators that do pretty well on a good car radio in spite of low power signals, it's entirely possible this translator isn't after the in car listener at all. Given typical listening habits, someone who can't hear a station at home won't listen in the car either. So, maybe they want the at home listener with the translator while 100.7 is adequate in the car?

I didn't spend any real time listening to The Word when I was in Dallas a few months ago, but I seem to remember 100.7 is in mono, which would help it get out a little better than the other Collinsville sticks.

KSKY 770 AM is part of The Word. Isn't KSKY still using an FM translator also?
