The worst commercials in TV history..

ajc_trw said:
Ally bank where people are asked to talk to a blender in a dry cleaners. They say people don't want to talk to a machine. A machine like an ATM?

Also, Egyptians believed in pyramid power so the pyramids weren't supposed to be cubes. :p

Also all these drug ads with silly jingle instrumental music beds and nonsense visuals of people doing things that could be described as stock footage.

Rant over, for now. ;)
You mean like the "wonder drug" Humira which apparently cures psoriasis, arthritis, Crohn's disease, jock itch, etc... ::)

Has anyone seen the commercial for "balloon pants" for people over 750 pounds? I think it's horrible that they don't have pants for larger men and women. What about the 800 or 900 pounders. They gotta eat too.
Joe [/quotYea, just ask Kirstie Alley or Oprah Winfrey. Or Stan Laurel.

You mean Oliver Hardy. Of course, you can't ask him anyway since he died in 1957.

I wrote "Stan" just to be cute. Looking around this thread since returning (had to replace computer fan), looks like you're not alone;onairb took me seriously too. Sorry, should have known better than to post toungue-in-cheek without grinning.

Just returning from two weeks offline, so forgive me if those DEAL-DASH ads have been skewed already. Their boastful disclaimer about using testimony of real clients, not actors, make me wish they'd used actors.

Two are terrible. First it's the Empire Today medieval/royal ad, which annoys me to death. It's stupid!

Also the CenturyLink "Do The Math" game show ad annoys me because it plays in every commercial break on my local Fox affiliate. Give me a break!

Don't know if anyone mentioned it, but K-Mart's "school bus is my limo" back to school rap/ghetto ad. 'Nuff said. Annoying as hell and one of the worst of the year.

Subway's annoying, crappy $5 Footlong jingle is BACK! When did that begin? Five years ago?

I can't find the ad on YouTube at this time, but any and all IPhone 5 ads with that annoying "Ring, Ring, Talking about the New Thing" song is enough to make me scream the next time I have to hear it. And it will likely be played ad nauseum during NFL games tomorrow--if not before the end of college football coverage before the night's over (right now I'm watching Alabama-Auburn on CBS).

Effective in what way? Yes, it made you remember the product, but I'm not sure it encouraged people to buy it. I assure you I would have bought almost any headache remedy other than Head On. But the commercial was not the only reason. The product is a homeopathic "medicine" and I use the word loosely. "Homeopathic" is a synonym for doesn't work. The best the user can hope for is the placebo effect.

I (unfortunately) did try the stuff. The effect was roughly the same as rubbing Ben-Gay on your forehead. Your face turned hot then cold, hot then cold, etc. It might have made you miserable enough to forget your headache though...

Sure you could ask him. Just because a man is dead dosen't mean he loses the power of speech!

Wracked by terminal cancer and the after-effects of a severe stroke, Oliver Hardy weighed about 125 pounds at the time of his death in 1957. Fat jokes are easy; dying of cancer is hard.

JCPenney: "GO GO GO GO GO!!! SHOP SHOP SHOP SHOP!!!" Very annoying Christmas "carol" about going out and spending money on Christmas clothing. Is this what our society is down to nowadays?

JC Penny is in trouble - their commercials are the least of their problems, though an annoying commercial may turn off potential customers. I'd give them another year or two at most, then they will be following Montgomery Ward and Woolworth's into retail heaven.

I think K-MART will go way before JCPenney does. They are closing stores everywhere and when I go into a K-Mart, there's usually no one shopping there.

JC Pennys is closing its 14 outlet stores nationwide.

Might depend upon where the K-Mart is located. Some are going gangbusters. I can also tell you that while those who are not hungry, cold or in need will probably never see it unless they are volunteering or happen to notice that Sears, which owns K-Mart makes some serious donations to take care of many of our less fortunate, which is a pretty good indication that they will probably be blessed for a long time to come. They make the donations and then provide the huge, environmentally friendly shopping bags to stuff.
