The worst commercials in TV history..

US Cellular with Janet and the Dummy. Sick of it already.
Geico's new commercial with two people in high-speed massaging chairs. Holy smokes, what a horrible commercial!

Speaking of geico they have been doing bad commercials for years! I remember just the other day, I saw their commercial from the late 90s when this guy has a baby and he calls his parents collect and his dad rejects the call. It made me mad that the couple rejected the call from their son and did not have the decency to go to the hospital to see their grandson.

Yeah. You can now vote for your 'favorite Geico commercial'. And so that's why they are recycling commercials from way back in the 2000s, like the squirrels and the Caveman in the Airport. But they are also airing stupid, stupid stuff - like Maxwell 'weee!!!! weee wee weee!!!' and the Wednesday Hump Day Camel that drove me to mute it every time it aired in 2013.

There are a couple Geico throwbacks I like...The soap opera spot ("I saved...I thought that meant something to you!") and the one with the action hero type getting a call from his mom ("It's very loud there. Are you taking a zumba class?")

"Bob Wehadababyitsaboy" is the worst of all of them!

You obviously do not remember when this was a standard method of avoiding highly priced long distance phone calls. When my parents would travel from my grandmother's house to our home town they'd call themselves collect at the grandmother's house to let her know they'd arrived safely. A lot of people did that to avoid paying for a long distance call. You have to understand history to understand the commercial.

I suspect that the largest number of collect calls made were from pay phones. When I went to college - decades before pay phones, I couldn't afford a phone in my dorm room, so I had to use the pay phone in the floor lounge. My parents lived long-distance, both in terms of geography and phone calls. Since I rarely had the $1.50 (or whatever it was) in change (and that was just for 3 minutes!), I had to call home collect.

And it was usually to hit them up for money.

There is this PSA where a fat kid sits in a recliner in his room and calls his grandmother and asks her for another grape soda! Get off your lazy ass and get it yourself you little shit!

YES...seconded! Limu Emu, Phoebe the news reporter, the biker and his 'calves,' the witness 'I can't tell you who I am but Liberty Mutual saved me $$$...' I hate em all.
And that Liberty Liberty Liberty jingle - did a 2nd grader write that? Disgusting. I will never use them for my car insurance. Same with GEICO, Progressive, Allstate...

Yes, the 'fake sitcom.' Mute that one too. And any Box ad, including the Lounge one. Holy smokes, someone smash that thing already.
GEICO's Lobster in the Pool, the Ice Cream ad, the Hibachi Grilling, I hate them all. I don't mind the dogs stopping people from texting and driving. Cute. But the rest can be burned up.

Was watching An episode of Wake Up! From WSJV 28 in South Bend and I should say the NYCE commercial where two girlfriends say NYCE and go on a shopping spree and buy everything they see. Before they know it their bank accounts will be down to zero.

I currently hate the Drivetime commercial that airs every 5 mins, with the annoying girl who goes “we’ll approve you even if your credit is ehhh”. I also hate that it airs not only on TV but on Youtube.

I also find insurance ads annoying, but I do like some of the State Farm commercials and I like the Progressive commercials with Jaime, but I hate Flo.

One I hear on the local radio constantly....

They start playing a crude version of LaBamba and sing
"You should be driving a Hyundai...
You should be driving a Hyundai
From Mankato Hyndai...
Mankato Hyundai"

I like the State Farm Fender Bender ad with the overturned helium truck. :)

Nearly all of the insurance companies on the air seem to think that repetition coupled with irritation equals brand recognition. It's like an arms (calves) race to make the dumbest commercials. Progressive might be turning a new page with their recent "You might be becoming your parents" theme that hopefully will leave Flo and Jamie behind. (The actress playing Flo won't ever have to work again! I'll shed no tears for her.)

My current favorite in the insurance category, or for that matter any category, would have to be Farmers, particularly "Hit and Drone." They're true slices of life from the adjusters' journals.
