(1) KFNX — they should lose their license to broadcast, given the grave disservice and assault they commit to the Valley listenership. Dedicating a majority of air time to infomercial broadcasts might be OK (I said "might") on a cable channel outfit because of the sheer numbers of broadcast stations. Not true as their are a small finite set of AM/FM station spots. And before somebody jumps in with an argument about satellite radio or internet podcasts/streams (of which I do partake in FREE of charge ones…), remember (a) consumers thus far have emphatically rejected "pay radio" and (b) most radio listening is done in car or locales away from computer (again, I can stream to any place in house, with the nifty Airport Express thingy, but speaking of the statistical average here…).
To me, Goyette, is lone bright spot — while he can go off on boring monologues, I find the guests he brings on very interesting and knowledgeable, discourse way above the sycophantic support KFYI throws behind the neoconservative cause or the sucking up of KTAR to local officials and power brokers.
(2) KXAM — what a waste, as an "independent" station, they could offer so much more, but like stated in earlier post, they're just cheap bastards interested in having a tax writeoff toy for their inept and socially challenged son…
(3) KKNT — "the Patriot", do we really need 24/7 syndicated neocon talker blowhards in addition to the fill already slewed at us from other stations?
(4) Do we really need all the Christian broadcasting stations that exist? I say this as someone who actually listens to some Christian broadcast programming, but just indiscriminately giving any old pastor a microphone and regurgitating recordings from speakers who've been dead for decades is well, scraping the bottom…
(5) With KTAR planning to go all-sports (and pending whether or not 860 AM will simulcast or be put to death or made into full time Spanish language sports station…, that makes 4 stations in the Valley devoted to sports radio. Is there that much of a demand for sports radio? Especially given the level of quality which is near "scraping the bottom".
