The worst thing about Jon & Ken being gone ...

... is listening to Kennedy!

Sorry in advance to sound sexist, but women talk show hosts, like the unfunny and lightweight Lisa Ann Walter, just don't cut it on conservative talk radio with a male-dominated listenership. They lack the authoritativeness a male has. Suspend me for a week, but that's the reality Jack! :p

God I lasted less than 5 minutes this afternoon listening to her. I couldn't wait to bail out. It was atrocious radio. The rest of this week I'm going to have to tune in elsewhere.

Women broadcasters always have a curious male audience i.e. Randy Rhodes. The males have one hand on gland and the other on the volume control

Have you seen Randy Rhodes? Hoofa! But hey if that floats yer boat, who am I to judge?

I actually tuned into KABC since believe it not I thought listening to Larry Elder recite the WhiteWater case and bashing Clinton would be more entertaining than listening to Kennedy. But to my pleasant surprise it was John Phillips sitting in for Larry (again) and he was doing something that Larry simply cannot do - talking about a local issue.

The local issue was the suspension of John and Ken. It was fun if I dare say because all of the KFI hosts are acting silly like nothing happened and no one is explaining why J&K are off the air, so it was nice listening to someone finally confront the issue on the air. Bravo Johnny.

Hey Jack how about returning young Phillips in the drive time slot? Larry's been missing a lot lately which means he might be taking another stab at interviewing for a network news channel position which has been his ultimate dream all along - Washington politics all the time. Don't have to bother with the stupid pesky local Los Angeles issues.

I must be in the teeny tiny minority on this board... What the hell is this Love Affair many of the posters here have for 'Local Issues' ??? I am more interested in what happens in politics and government rather than degenerate school teachers in LA about 55 miles from my locale in south Orange County. I can catch all the news about LA/OC by watching the local news on Channels 4, 5, and 9. [The weather girls aren't hard to view either]

I couldn't care less about John and Ken's comments about a celebrity's death.

Gotta agree with Super on this. It's not whether the issue is local or not that makes for compelling radio. Would John and Ken be any less entertaining if they were hammering Washington pols instead of LA and Sacramento pols? Do you think they will be talking local issues during the national elections in November?

I used to be a big Larry Elder fan because when he first came to KABC he aired a completely different show and voice than really had ever been offered up in talk radio in general and at KABC in particular. For the first time, it was nice to hear some of my ideas, which are along the lines of free-markets, free ideas and expression and being free from government oppression and tyranny, being represented on the radio as opposed to the same ol' Republican and Democrat talking points which are so familiar and so tedious (and the handywork of sloppy and lazy radio and TV producers everywhere).

As the years have gone on, talk radio has changed, but unfortunately, Larry's show hasn't. The arguments that he made that were so fresh in the mid-nineties are the same ones he is rehashing today. While it is true many of our issues and problems remain the same, good radio requires even talented hosts to evolve and reinvent themselves. Larry has not done this and that is why is show is seem so stale next to J&K, who seem to constantly reinvent themselves. Overall point is that it is presentation and entertainment value that makes for compelling radio, not local vs. national.

Why isn't Shannon Farren a talk show host? Recently, she did a talk show on KFi and she was a lot better than Kennedy, Walter or Suits!

+1, although I do enjoy Suits current gig on the weekend...

The worst thing about John & Ken being gone is the unfortunate fact that they return next Monday to spew their venom at those who cannot defend themselves.
Example: The late Whitney Houston who they called a "crack-ho" on KFI this month. So this is how we treat women who have a drug problem? Just say you are so tired of that crack-ho. If you want racial slurs, J&K are perfect radio fare. This pair could not carry Doug's gym bag. They simply have no class.

CC says they won't tolerate such on air behavior, but if that were true this strange duo would not return to KFI on Monday after a brief President's Day week vacation.
They are very lucky their behavior is being tolerated so they still have their job, at least for now.

They are KFI's bread and butter as is Handel and Rush. Everyone else on that station is not capable of even pulling their weight, so J&K are secure enough. This was very minor if you consider it and KFI over-reacted in my opinion. Should have suspended them for a day or two but 7 days seems way too much.

They need to bring in Michael Reagan, and fast! Genuine talent with experience in radio and politics, actually knows what he is talking about..... and while we are at it, why not air Neal Boortz 10-midnight to match the Libertarian swing KFI has had lately.

While you are at it, add Huckabee and then Herman Cain and Sarah Palin and you'll have a hit station. Oh wait then we'll have another KABC on our hands and KFI would be sitting at number 35th place in the ratings just like KABC is with their right wing heavy's.

What do you think KFI is, right-wing heavy, maybe except for Lisa Anne.

Almost any of the KFI news people could host. Everytime I've heard one on a regular show, it's been pretty good.

Oh lighten up, "randy chase." It is ENTERTAINMENT with a dollop of activism... Whitney Houston was a walking monster and in death she is venerated. This whole thing was a publicity stunt...J and K were just stating the truth....and obviously "you can't handle the truth."

Nothing forces you to listen to John and Ken....obviously it upsets you. To that end, sit in your rocking chair eating warm oatmeal and just stick to the Xanax of talk radio and news, NPR, and the world will seem to be a way nicer bright and sunny place.

I can handle the truth. The truth is J&K should be off the radio. They are pathetic.

Just because Whitney was a drug addict does not make it right for J&K to trash her on KFI as a crack-ho. There are limits to what you should do and J&K have no compass. And I no longer listen to their trash talk. My guess is they are in for a surprise at contract time.

As for a rockin chair I don't need one 'cause I run five miles every day along the beachfront.

You must not be in the broadcasting biz.

I'm sure that KFI and J/K will really miss you given that they are the number #1 show on the west coast ratings period to ratings period to ratings period. Bill Handel always mocks listener letters that they are never going to listen to his show again.

Bill Handel and J/K are profit centers for Clear Channel, and they are not going to do anything to upset that.
