"Theatre One"?

Hello....

This is post #1 by me, and I wonder if anyone can answer this.

Around 1968 or so, I seem to recall in my local TV Guide, a show listed as "Theatre (Theater?) One," which I think was a filmed anthology series, syndicated in reruns. Does anyone know what this was, and if so, what the original name of the series was?

I believe that there was "ABC Theatre" in 1961 & maybe this was the original title. I thought that there was one story that had a very young Jane Fonda in it.

Anyone wanna try answering this? Google comes up with nothing that I can go by.

Depends on your market and your timeframe.

Back in the 1948-58 period, there was a program called Studio One, which aired weekly on CBS. It was one of the great classic dramatic anthology series of television's first golden age. Maybe that's what you're thinking of (or what the TV Guide editor mis-named). If it shows up Monday night at 10 PM on a CBS affiliate station in a guide issued before the end of September 1958 then Studio One is the program we're talking about.

If the show is on a different night of the week, and/or a different time slot, and it's later than the fall of 1958, then we're probably talking about a local show, probably a movie presentation. Those shows will differ in content from city to city, even if different stations in different cities use the same or similar titles for their movie presentationos.

No I don't think 'twas Studio One. I will try and look at the microfiches from the Miami papers at the library. As I recall, I was waiting for Pro Bowlers Tour (ABC) on Sat. afternoons & this show was on right before it.

I think there were two 30-minute presentations. I also do not recall if there was even an intro; this made me think it might have been a rerun of some other anthology.

Being 40+ years back, I cannot be sure. It is possible that the former WLBW ch 10 Miami listed it as Theatre One, while other stations called it something else.

Maybe I've been hallucinating.

Probably not..There were a lot of anthology series that first were repackaged under different titles (sponsors) on the networks..Some of these probably went out into syndication at some point..
