TheBlaze Network is now on DISH Network

From Broadcasting & Cable:

Glenn Beck's TheBlaze Network Gets Carriage on Dish

The channel will be available as part of Dish's America's Top 250 package starting Sept. 12 at 5 p.m., or offered to subscribers a la carte for $5 a month starting Thursday. The move puts TheBlaze, which launched as the online-only subscription service GBTV a year ago, alongside news networks like MSNBC, CNN and Beck's former home, Fox News.

Political viewpoints aside, I'm sure he'll do better with this network than Oprah has with hers.

Here's the interesting thing about this.. this is the first channel that I'm aware of that's gone from the Internet to Satellite.
There have been several that have given up trying to be a cable/satellite channel to just being an internet stream.
This would appear to be a first and Glenn Beck pulled it off. Very interesting development.

Very honestly, I think that Glenn Beck may be paying for satellite carriage on Dish Network, not unlike all of the shop-at-home channels. I would think that Dish would also be getting a percentage of his ad revenues as part of the deal or some kind of ad deal which Dish gets "free" ads on The Blaze.

Overall, Dish Network as a way more diverse offering of nets than Directv.

I'm not sure Beck has ads on his channel. It seems more likely that Dish is trying to get a lot of his supporters to sign up for their service since they offer his channel and others don't. I'm sure Dish and Beck will split the 5 bucks a month they get per subscriber. Keep in mind, at last word Beck had more than 300,000 subscribers for the channel online. He's taking in tens of millions off of it. (though I don't know if it is profitable) This will just expand the business without a whole lot of increase in overhead. If it brings Dish a few thousand more subscribers that would be enough to make it worth their while.

I know OWN is easy to pick on with its headline stumbles, but that's a tremendous leap. An option on the #2 satellite company is nice, but lets wait until it has a presence on almost all major cable systems and both satellite companies before we start seeing Beck as mogul on the same level. Discovery isn't being patient with a venture it figures will ultimately fail.

What makes you say that? They also carry LinkTV and Free Speech TV, and from the look of those outfits
I hardly think they are paying for carriage.

I recall reading that both Dish and DirecTV carry those channels as a quid pro quo "public service" mandate from the FCC. "We'll carry these channels if you do this for us" kind of thing.

So perhaps they are carrying Blaze for the same reason to provide some balance?

Yes, or there is some cash exchanged as I said earlier.

Not if the Blaze is in the sub-300's and those terrible channels are in the 9400 tier. Even as a liberal, FS and LinkTV are where production values and balance go to die ::).

"...where production values and balance go to die...."

CLASSSSSSSSSSSSSSIC!

Can't disagree with you there. FSTV looks as if it's streaming from somebody's laptop
in the Greater Metropolitan Denver area.

I got better video quality with Netflix over my pitiful rural 1.5Mbps DSL connection than I did with some of the marginal Dish channels. But there are those living in remote areas where "broadband" even in 2012 is a pipedream and Dish/FSTV is the only option for watching "Democracy Now".

I'm about to sign up with Dish.... I was really interested with your comment, "I got better video quality with Netflix over my pitiful rural 1.5Mbps DSL connection than I did with some of the marginal Dish channels. "

Like what channels are you referring to?
